.........due to the fact that I have been on a six month ban...long story but in a nutshell- totting up!
I am now three days away from getting the lid back on. The bike is all nice and clean and ready to rock and roll.

It had been started on a regular basis and warmed up etc but has not turned a wheel during the last six months:eek:

The battery though is not taking a good charge....new battery required...

Is there anything I should do or be aware of before I take to the roads.

It was covered up but exposed to the elements (temperatures) as it was not garaged.

Someone said that I should change the tyres and oil. Is this true?

Should I do anything else?

It a 12GSA....

I hit the road on the 13th :bounce1:bounce1:bounce1

I don't think I'd bother changing the oil normally...........except...........having started the bike to warm her up every now and again there is no way you will have got her hot enough for long enough to get rid of any condensation; you may in fact have made situations worse with the constant warming and cooling :nenau

For that reason, I'd at least drop the oil.

Welcome back on the road, I bet you can't wait (despite the auspicious date  ;) ).

Ring BMW assistance .. they will give you a new battery under warranty if it doesn't start .. don't ask me how I know :augie

Thanks...13th not that bad as it's not Friday.
I must admit the excitement is getting to me now. Today was glorious and seeing all the bikers out and about made me well...you know- excited:bounce1
It has been the longest six months of my life- honest- a nightmare. Thank goodness it was over Winter-'ish....

For what it's worth..... Living where I do, apart from a few nutters, all bikes get put away for the winter - ca. 5 months - every year!!

I change the oil BEFORE putting the blanket on and put the battery on trickle charge once a month and thats it......

It starts as easily as it ever did......:clap
