FREE MS Access Database - keep electronic records, much easier to refer to than having to rumage through piles of invoices and other paperwork every time you want to check something!

(NB: you will need MS Access installed on your PC or the MS Access Runtime that I understand is available for download).

Download from www.MotorcycleInfo.co.uk
You'll need to logon to access the download - you can either register or use the following logon details:
ukgser (user name)
ukgser1 (password)

When I try to open file after download I get 'runtime error 2448' any ideas what to do? Cheers Chris

Not heard of anyone else having problems.....what version of MS Access (MS Office) do you have on your PC?
Have you tried downloading the file again on the off chance the first download was corrupted in some way?

Andyw: just tried again m8....got same error and also said 'cant command a value to this program' ???

Any thoughts ? MS Access was pre installed on comp sp not sure which version i have...........which download is best for Ms access to replace/update? Cheers for any help....Chris :thumb2

Sorry to hear you still have problems.....

Access version - click 'Help' on the main menu and then 'About MS Access'
If you have a pre Office 2000 version I can email another version of the Database to you

MS Access is not available for download but patches/updates can be found here:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/downloads/default.aspx

A free alternative to MS Office that get great reviews is OpenOffice and it's equivalent of Access can run the Database (so another user advises me):
http://download.openoffice.org/index.html

Have you tried deleting the file and downloading from scratch.
You are running the file from your hard drive not a copy burned to CD?

Still nobody else with problems.......not that that helps you!

Won't open on my computer :( (running Office 2007 so assume will only open in earlier version of Access - think Access programs tend to be very version-specific)

Also tried to open it in Open Office 2.4 but translated it into gobbledygook. Will have to see if still have old version of Office around!

Office 2007 and it works fine .....:D

...thanks, I guess Rolf sorted the problem as I've not heard more and nobody else has had problems :-)

An after thought - for anyone with MS Access database experience who would like to modify/improve how the database works/looks you can unlock it to work in a standard MS Access window (with full toolbars and editing options rather than just the 'user interface') as follows:

Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the mdb file.
Note - Depending on the macro security settings you might see one or more security messages on startup. You must hold down the SHIFT key until you close the security messages or the startup options will not be bypassed.
