Bike insurance.

Hi all, was just wondering whom are happy with there insurance.
Ie, price cover etc.
Just rang Bennetts to get my gsa and dr350 ins renewed ( had a policy on these bikes for a while now. ) And have been told they will not cover as i wish to carry pillions.

So went onto go compare for a new quote, thought i would be honest and input the replacement exhaust and only 4 companies will cover.
So the million dollar question, is honesty really the best policy?

Scooter pillions making personal injury claims are destroying the market, apparently.

My friend (47 years old, 11 years NCD, GSXR1000) was recently refused insurance entirely.

I just added an f650 to my ebike policy and they doubled it; 1150GS £29 a month, 1150GS + 650GS £69 a month.

Another tick for Hastings.:thumb2

I was with Carol Nash for years until I bought my GS back in 2003 and then they quoted me silly money so I shopped around. Hastings quoted me £100 FC with all the usual extra's and I have stayed with them ever since. Renewed a couple of months ago at a cost of £112 so in real terms the premium has probably gone down over the past 8-years which can't be a bad thing.

Is that £69 per month?

I think my 1150 cost £130 with Footman James & that includes European breakdown & Medical Insurance so well chuffed but you never know how good until you need them

Update; removed the 650GS from my policy, and expeced it to return to £29 a month; but it now stands at £59 a month..

I called ebike who stated there PAYG policies were now more expensive and they advised me to take out a standard policy...:blast

I'm with Chaucer Ins via Bennets and have a claim going through and its a pain.
The bike is now a write off and located in Westbury (Somerset) with all my additions on it. My policy has a max of £100 for Accessories and i've worked out there's about £600 on it. They say its my problem, i either take the £100 or go to the salvage and recover the bits i want back :blast Easier said than done with a broken leg and being about 8+ miles away!
I also forgot that there's a £500 excess and due to the 'claim' still being challenged I have to foot this then the Ins/Solicitor will get it back from the 3rd party when blame has been apportioned.......

Friggin nightmare as I was knocked off due to car swapping lanes to 'miss' a car that pulled out in front of him.......

One bit of advice, always check the small print, lowest price isn't always best!

My renewal premium this year was £83 fully comp! That's on an 02 1150 GS. Marvous!:thumb2

Hi guys, I would recommend having a look at http://www.ridersupport.com/ in place of the usual legal cover for uninsured losses, my brother and myself have used these guys with positive results. :thumb2

Just insured (renewed) with Carol Nash for the 7th or 8th year in succession. I always shop around and go back with a big stick - got them down from their renewal quote (you always do!) 2x 1150 Gs (one Adv, one standard) and the bill was £228.00 - going ot have a look at ebike and see what they come up with and as my insurance isn't actual;ly due until next week - see if I can save a bob or two.

Thanks folks for all your input. Together we can conquer the world!:aidan
