How many years has the 1200GS been out, must be seven ish ?
Still the mags continue to test it against newer rivals and it still holds its own:

Bike June 2009:
'Stops from 70mph (49.6m) in a shorter distance than 2009 Yamaha R1
Utterly stable at top speed (132mph)
It's hard to criticise-there's little it cant make a decent fist of.
Dyno : 97.8bhp @7500rpm 78.5LB.ft @7100rpm
0-60 3.96secs 40-120mph Top Gear 15.3secs
the GS is still one of the most relaxing, complete, competent motorcycles ever devised. Despite lacking a bit of soul, the engine is hugely potent, the chassis astonishingly nimble, the ride quality supremely good.
Of the four bikes on test, it is also, we have to say it, the only one where nothing went wrong for the entire test.'

So out of Moto Morini Granpasso, KTM990Adv, Guzzi Stelvio, R1200GS , guess which one Bike June 2009 chose as favourite giant Trailie after their 'Tested so hard we broke 'em' test...

The Austrian one of course! .... and that one didn't survive the test:augie

It seems the gs is the benchmark for others to follow,Lets forget for now the niggles and outdated technology of the engine, but damn it I didnt want to love the bike it just happens,The machine rocks and will suprise many a so called sportsbike(mid life crisis).:bounce1
