..... change their bike to match their curtains... I think they call it the Jones syndrome...

Have searched the house and haven't yet come across a set of yellow and black curtains. Thank goodness none of my neighbours are called Jones. :thumb

Except that these new GS riders will move onto the next fashion statement and their second hands will be dumped on the market.
Mmmmmmmmmm, I wonder what the next 'fashion statement' will be in 4 years time then. Should I start looking out for it now?

Spending £10k on a motorcycle was never an easy choice. Even if I will average 10k miles a year and it will be regularly used for 8 months of the year (and 'irregularly' in the remaininf 4 months - lest I be accused as a fair weather biker  ).

So, this one is a keeper (as indeed the last one was).

Mind you, if I had one of those old 1100 or 1150 things, I'd be looking to switch asafp and pdaq.

Kai ;)

I had a look at the new R1 at the weekend.....does look bloody nice in black :)

You are of course quite right. :clap No doubt about it. :thumb. Except that these new GS riders will move onto the next fashion statement and their second hands will be dumped on the market.

Make your mind up. On the one hand you're agreeing with Outtomunch's assertions that it doesn't matter who's riding, the more the merrier. Yet in the next sentence "these new GS riders" are nothing more than fickle trend-chasers, to be spoken about with a tinge of contempt and not to be let into the "clique". :eek

I'm only on my second GS, and my first wasn't even a proper one (650) so does that make me one of "these new GS riders" not to be trusted to uphold the ancient and no doubt high-faluting traditions of GS ownership? :gosh

I keep hearing this too! It always seems to come from non-GS owners.

The GS is an awesome bike, and if I am a fickle fashion statement kind of guy to want one, oh well, 30K miles a year is worth any silly nonsense label applied to me. :D

Jim

It's gorgeous, no doubt about it, but there's no way it could have done what the R1200 has done over the last year or the R1100 the six years before it.

Nice stripe on the wheels, mind.
....ah well, I'm a solo road rider, so I probably could - I'm tempted. Got quoted 2k to change from an '04 12GS to a brand new R1. The picture doesn't do it justice. I'm off for a test ride in a few weeks :thumb

My money`s on this big traily thing being a fashion hiccup in the market. After all who would want an ugly, slow tractor. The only people buying into it are those who are not all that clued up on the whole bike thing and read the press to help them decide. That`s not a dig BTW, not everyone is a bike anorak like me & knows excactly what they want ;) Now the press has been there, done that, they are bored of it and they`ll be back on to waxing lyrical about the latest RG1SRXZVZFRR10000000000 with its pretty lines and racing pedigree. They`re now saying the KTM is the best big traily cos it`s got a new seat! :yelrotflm Charlie & Whatzizname are already old hat :clap so the big trailys fashion spike is almost over. Thank f**k for that :D

I quite agree that it's a stunner..........at least it will be until 16 stone of 6'3" Gonzo straddles it. Whilst I'd love a go, I don't generally fit rice-rockets and if I did............it would still look like I don't!

May temptation be your guiding principle........even if you are led away from the GS! :thumb
