Bike Magazine

Nothing to get excited about, all it tells us that BMW are spending more money advertising in bike mag than anyone else right now. Bike had a big 30th Anniversary pull out a while back, and blathered on about how woderful the GS was, almost certainly funded by BMW.

Funny how BMW built excellent real world bikes with great reliability for decades and never sold many, they have now caught on to the power of dishing out press freebies and celeb endoresements, slashed quality and put it into hype, PR and advertising and can't build them quick enough (even with the corner cutting)

imagine 10,000 gsers showing a little respect for each other.....Just think what could be achieved then!

Well said mate!

Not been on here that long myself but have noticed in the short time that there are quite a few ... erm .. shall we say unhelpful Nobheads on here :roll

You'll notice that all the tossers moaning about "this again" ride 11**s!:hide

I've noticed this too. And why do they float around on the 1200 section anyway? It's because they secretly want a 1200 but can't have one so to feel better they have to come on here and slag off the 1200's ;) I've never been on the 1150 forum, as I have no interest in the 1150. To be on the 1200 forum you must be interested I the 1200 :hide

Forever the sceptic  Is it impossible to just believe BMW have made a cracking bike?

They sure have, but if they could fix the FPC's, Fuel Gauge and Final Drive then it really would be the bike of the decade - and it really should not have been too difficult to do this by now, and I would be looking to test the new twin cam and maybe considering a new GSA instead of looking at "inferior" Stelvio's and Super Tens.

Wish I had jumped on the bandwagon back in the 1150's heyday, perhaps that should have won best bike of last 40 years?

Although the GS does not seem right for such a title, be a bit like doing the smae with cars and giving the title to a Range Rover, sure they are great do everything cars, but better than a Veyron, F1 or even a Ferrari 355 - no way.

A Ducati 916 or Honda RC30 I could understand and to me it should have been the GPZ900R as that managed to be the fastest production bike in the world, take the first three places in the production TT and could still tour with the Mrs on the back, and reliably reach 100k, no contest really!

Nah, Suzuki AP50 circa 1976. Fastest bike on the road. Could be crashed all day long and would still somehow make it home. Engine could be stripped down and put back together with a new set of main bearings in the morning in time to be out with yer mates at lunchtime. Fuel for it was only 36p a gallon and the seat was just about big enough to shag a girl on if the ground was wet. New piston and a set of rings was £17.

It came in a nice deep red or a rather fetching blue.

What more could you ask for:aidan
