Bike nicked... Almost!

Thieving skum tried to steal my bike today.

They ripped out the ignition barrel before realising I had a disc lock on!

At least they left it on the side-stand

Thoughtful of the thick-as-shit pricks.

Ah well. Could have been much worse.

Still waiting for the AA.

I need a beer.

It just needs a new ignition barrel - I managed to wiggle it back in and start the bike.

Could have been worse I guess.

I suppose in all the years I've been riding I was overdue!

What amazed me was the number of folks who came up to tell me they saw the whole thing... Yet no one did anything nor even got the number of the bike they ran off on... Though it'd only have been nicked itself

At least you've got your bike, despite ball the aggravation.
I had my first GS pinched from the school car park-no, I'm not an eternal student-where I work. It was later used in a robbery. I had a visit from a guy in the 'flying squad' asking for details about the bike. I later heard that the robbers weren't found and neither was my bike.
Now I use a heavy Almax chain and squire lock all of the time-a nuisance but worth it.

I'm not amazed - generally people aren't as brave as they like to think they are .... and "don't want to get involved". Ok then, if they didn't want to approach the culprits personally (and in fairness I could understand why they wouldn't) I'll bet you a pint that most (if not all) of those who approached you to say they "saw the whole thing" had a mobile on them capable of taking photos of better quality than most CCTV cameras - but never thought of using them.
