Any feelings on parking a bike at york Racecourse for a day , site says theres no secure bike bays and to use the race course road. Its a big beast but not too big to be shoved into a horse box etc. Would have a an almax chain but if nothing to chain it too its not as effective.

Unless you have a pass into posh zone, 90% car parking is on Knavesmire which is basically a big grass park.

Not that i'm telling you to do this. There is a hotel - The marriott which faces onto the Knavesmire/Racecourse where I am quite sure you could loose a GS for the day.

Have a browse on google maps, pm me if you spot anywhere else and youwant an opinion of its safety.

Weather curtailed my taking the bike as it was dark and -3 C when I set off. There is bike railings opposite the main stand area entrance on racecourse road, so somewhere to tie a bike up to if required, though they may object there wasnt any signs I could see saying pushbike only.

We've occasionally parked a couple of bikes on the grass right next to the pushrod racks. The staff are usually pretty good and will open the gate for you. Space is tight and there's nothing to lock them to though.
