Lads has anyone got an idea as to where I'd get a bike power cable for the Garmin Nuvi models?

I've looked on ebay but I've had no look.

Thanks,

Eric.

I used a nuvi 250 on mine but I just used the standard ciggy lighter power lead :thumb2

What model Nuvi............there are loads !
I have a Ram mount for the Nuvi 3xx series which you are welcome to have, if any use.
I powered a Nuvi 350 it a trip back from Germany via a (long!) cable I made up which you are also welcome to have and adopt to suit. It uses the standard 12v car adaptor and a second adaptor which I sitted a BWM plug to...........not sure how an AT provides power though...:nenau

It's the Nuvi 205.

Uses the small type USP plug in to power it.

@ vireo I've bought a waterproof mount for it so no need for the ram mount. thanks very much for the offer.

Eric,

What type of power outlet (if any ?) is on the bike? As far as I know, the Nuvi's operate off c5V supply, hence the step-down adaptor in the car charger, so you cannot wire it straight into the power supply in the bikes loom.

I use the attached contraption when I used the Nuvi on the BM. Top left is the Nuvi mini-USB power input (car power cable) and centre field is the narrow BMW-type power plug. The gaggle of cables on the bottom right is a car-type adaptor (female) for the normal car power cable, "tidied-up"....sort of. Using this in a tank bag (its not waterproof) I was easily able to power the Nuvi over a 2 day, 1200km ride, utilising the BMW own power socket.

Its yours if any use...

Alternatively, you could perhaps fit a standard car-type cigar lighter socket on the bike and use the car adaptor for the Nuvi - bit it would still need to be in something waterproof.

There's various cradles for the Nuvi series, so it then becomes model specific.

Early GA24 and GA25 cradles (Nuvi 200/250 and widescreen) models had aperture at back for min-usb, but the Garmin power lead changed, the usb connector moulding got fatter, so cradle was 'tweaked' to allow for this. The bike power leads from www.locatis.eu were not affected.

Thanks for all the info lads.
