I've had the tank off my 1200 today will trying to troubleshoot a zumo problem.
Bike is now running like a dog, snatchy fuelling.
It's obviously something I've done.
Can anybody help me narrow down the problem.

Many thanks :thumb

Check your throttle cables you can trap them on the 1200's too!

Plus the ECU gets upset trying to compensate the idle control valves

My bike was also running like a pig this week around Scotland in some pretty awful weather conditions. Close inspection showed my right hand cylinder lower stick coil had literally burst apart so it was only running on one of the two spark plugs. My GS911 also showed I had a faulty Lambda probe on no 1 cylinder, I shall procure a new one from Motorworks as BWM want about £140 for one probe. Luckily I robbed the coil off my mates identical GSA on returning to Glasgow for the ride home, having ordered him a new one from Motorrad central (due in soon from Germany).

I would undo the protective covers and inspect your coils for any signs of rupture as a first step, it could be coincidence that one has failed at the same time as doing your maintenance. Also check the throttle cable all the way from handlebars to throttle butterflies especially at the cable splitter box.

Cheers Jaythro.
It was an unseated throttle cable.

It would have to be the one behind the intake snorkel!

Thanks again for the pointer.

Paul

It will probably run funny for a while till it learns it's throttle openings again and will have logged a fault code too
