I've got an old pair of Motorola T5622 walkie talkies and as a cheap solution, was thinking of buying a couple of these ear pieces for bike to bike comms. for our Alps tour in July.

Will it be a case of buy cheap buy twice? Will this set up work adequately and clearly? Or do I need to be looking at more high tech (expensive) kit?

Anybody using this kit or similar? Or have a better idea/suggestion?

I've used the Maplin kit which is fantastic - comes with a PTT button for the handlebar, plus the headset and radio plug. You need to have compatable radio's of course - which they sell too - though not all the models they sell work with the kit. Have a scoot at Maplin for more info...

Thanks Dave. How do you find yours? Is the sound clear enough over the road noise without having to turn the vol up to ear splitting levels?

I would expect if the setup doesn't have noise cancelling mikes then road/wind noise will become intrusive after about 40/50mph ish.

also with the setup above, it looks likje an in-ear speaker thingy, which means no ear plugs.

you can buy the headset and ptt button and the like from somebody like interride means you can have in helmet speakers so you can use ear plugs there mikes are noise cancelling, and dependant on the motoral connectors a standard headset may fit

Sumo,
What's the make of your kit? I'll look into it. How do you find the bluetooth kit? Does it eat batteries??

I've got a pair of T5622s which are great, but I use them with my autocom for PTT.

Its a bit tricky - try and get the cheapest ptt setup that is comfortable with your other kit,
