Ok so im a complete n00b about the how do they work with an intercom system [Starcom]:confused: do you have PTT or do you just talk like talking to the passenger :confused:or what:confused::confused:

I know i need the correct lead channel etc etc

Might have to pop round and see you Eddy after i have correct lead :D:D

For Bike-to-bike most work on a PTT wired through your radio; the radio is mounted separately and pre-tuned to the same channel as your riding buddies. You 'can' use them without a separate intercom unit and they work just as well, but most seem to prefer music etc while they wheel, hence Starcom/Autocom/Intaride etc.

Rider-pillion is managed through the intercom and I think most use some sort of switch, but I'm ready to be corrected on that because I don't think my Intaride needed a PTT for the Rider-Pillion.

VOX (voice operated) is an alternative to PTT but no-one seems to have cracked it properly for a bike-to-bike system because of the high level of background noise.

some also come with a PTT (button ye press to talk) on a lead from the radio to say, ye handlebars on a velcro fixing.
VOX ( voice activated control) is ok but on some sets you get a delay between transmissions.

the other part is the speaker, an ear peices, these fit inside ye helmet , and have a lead to the RT (radio /transmit) device.

ist all down to rider preference n cost?
ugg.

Used to supply and use Softline kit, on VOX with Motorola TA200's. Excellent right up until about 130mph :eek::eek: Noise cancelling lip mikes were great. Very compact with just the headset and the radio in your top pocket. The problem with them was that the headset cables couldnt withstand the constant buffeting/flexing as the came out of your lid, and kept failing. They were meant to change the suppliers for the cables to correct this problem. Unfortunately, the warranty back up, was far from what had been promised.:spitfire so I ended up replacing headsets which were returned, but never credited back to me. Pity:cool: Lesson to be learned.:augie

Since then, have tried various different ones and settled on Intaride. http://www.intaride.com/ They too have the VOX capability, although not just quite as good as Softline, IMHO. Well made kit with professional high quality cables, connections, components, radios & aerials too, with the facility to add as much bells and whistles as you could want. And of course a proper warranty. Im more than happy with them, as are my customers. :thumb2
