Is it only Spain that has made bike to bike radio communications illegal? Has France? Some person told me that that both countries had outlawed them. However I think it is only Spain. I am off to france in two weeks time.

I use them all the time both here in France and any time I go to Spain, never a problem. I'm sure they are not illegal here but I will check.

If bike to bike radios are illegal in France our local Gendarmes haven't been informed of it. How would they know anyway? Mine has an external antenna which are illegal all over Europe but it just isn't noticed :nenau

Slightly off topic but I have been told by my brother who works in Toulouse on Airbus that the frogs are really starting to pull UK vehicles and checking for warning triangles and dayglo vests and imposing on the spot fines so maybe they will start checking bikes for any other compliance issues.

They are pulling us about the triangles and vests also but I can't see them ever taking bikes to bits to look for radios and they are legal anyway! The purge on bikes at the mo is for speeding, do not do any silly speeds or you could end up losing your bike! The fixed cameras aren't a problem for Brits but on a trip to Carcassonne and back yesterday (1 hour each way) on the A9 and A61 I saw three mobile radar units!
A lot of people down here are now sticking to the limit!

You are ok in France but in Spain they do not really like headsets to be fitted inside any helmets and as far as I am aware is against the law.

So I hear but I have been there countless times (it is just down the road!) always with the big curly wires coming out of our helmets. Chatted with police on bikes and in cars, never a problem. I will be there again next week, just my luck to get done!

Thanks for all your replies. Do motorcyles have to carry warning triangles or just cars. OK yellow vests but a triangle!
