Bike Trousers

Hi,

I think I may be looking for something that does not exist!

I have currently got a pair of Belstaff trousers which are great in the winter when it is cold but a bit bulky for this time of year. I have a pair of HG Tuareg trousers which are great in the summer but are not waterproof and do not fit in my boots.

What I am after is a pair of textile waterproof/showerproof trousers ideally that go inside the boots to wear between seasons similar to the fit of leather trousers ( ) but which are not motocross trousers. Do such a pair exist?

If not what is the non-bulkiest trousers that you have seen that are a resonable price, waterproof and not too sweaty, i.e. could get away with wearing in the office for a couple of hours without puddles forming in your boots.

You can buy waterproof textile trousers, with removable liners, for the less cold weather.

I'm not sure that you can them 'leather style fit'.

If you want to keep your feet dry, the trousers will have to go outside of the boots as you may otherwise get water running down your trouser leg and into your boots.

I wonder if you can actually get water proof leather trousers and jackets - anyone?

You may find tucking your trousers in to your boots goes along way to puddles forming in your boots.

Waterproof textile trousers that fit inside your boots DO exist, but for obvious reasons, they're not very common.

Yep, I know about the inside the boot issues. But I am after something that would get me 1 or 2 miles home without having to reach for the waterproofs.

I think what I really want is something with a reasonable "tight fit", in plain black which may or may not be waterproof but would stand a brief shower and can be worn off the bike eg in the office/meetings for a short while.

A vaguely waterproof pair of Draggin' Jeans/Hood Jeans would be a good compromise!

Google Altura trousers and see what you like- they are bicycle kit really, but they do stuff in the line you are after.

Richa do some nice close fitting gear, sorta waterproof. Waterproof if NikWaxed most will fit in your boots. As has been said WHY

I have just got a pair of Dainese 'Hooper' trouser and am very pleased with them. They fit a bit like leathers and have the knee and shin protection but are textile and waterproof (although I have not tested them yet!!). Dainese do a few pairs in this style with variations in textiles and of course prices.

Try using your regular leathers and proofing them with something like Renapur. Works very well and conditions the leather too. The only place that you have the potential to get a bit wet when it gets REALLY torrential is at the zips/flies.

I wonder if you can actually get water proof leather trousers and jackets - anyone?

The (now out of production - but possibly still available) BMW Leathergard Trousers are made of a water-resistant leather, that has goretex bonded to the inner surface, and are totally waterproof. They are touring fit rather than sports, and look good after a long run in torrential rain.

Downside is that they retail at £400, but could be cheaper as dealers clear stock.

Waterproof,breathable,look ok to wear in the office for an hour or so(if you're sitting at the desk!! ) BUT sadly are over the boot cut.Can be used in winter using a pair of 'Ron Hill trackmasters'(school gym teachers bottoms)!!

I use this combo when green laning and it works.

Well...I took a trip to P&H in Crawley this afternoon and have now got a pair of P.A. D-Dry Dainese Trousers. They are waterproof, fairly thin, and do not have a thermal liner and were £60 off so only cost £89.99!.

While I was there I also picked up a pair of Virunga D-Dry boots. So I'll let you know how I get on!

I've replaced my old Belstaff textile trousers last week (due to my increasing waist dimensions), with a pair of Hein Gericke Tricky II Hose. They weren't cheap but had good armour and a good quality looking front zip, and they fit like a dream. Oh and the inner lining is bright Red
