Hi

After replacing the clutch plate on my 07 r1200 gsa i noticed a strong vibration when leaving the clutch lever out, never had this before. Vibration disappearers as i build up speed. also I seem to have very little travel on the clutch lever before clutch engages, not sure if i have done something wrong? I replaced the old clutch fluid with bmw blue mineral oil.

Did you replace just the friction plate or the complete clutch unit ?

Genuine or pattern friction plate.

If the complete clutch unit are you still using the original early shorter pushrod ?
The later pressure plate/flywheel uses a longer pushrod

Only replaced the clutch plate. Got it from motoworks

I have ordered a genuine clutch plate, the last time i stripped the back end of the bike i took everything off one piece at a time. is there a proceedure i can follow to split the bike in half written down somewhere?. I have youtubed the proceedure but the vids are in fast speed time no explanation.

Pull the rear subframe off with everything attached .. it’s pretty straightforward

I had the same thing, it's motorworks shite pattern parts. I then fitted a genuine friction plate and alls well. I did as Steptoe said, all done in a day.

@Steptoe or other experts - I have a GSA that needs a clutch, but I don't like the heavy crank feel of the GSA.

I was under the impression it has 1kg more lead (pb) on the crank mass to make low speed work less likely to stall - but no parts fiche I look at shows the GS or GSA having any different crank, flywheel, or clutch parts... leaving me confused as to where the weight is ?

the vibration issue on this post - could it be related to a GSA clutch in a GS or vice versa - and does the counterbalance weight need to match the overall clutch flywheel and cover assembly or run out of whack ?

Compensation shaft has nothing to do with the clutch parts.
And as far as I know the GSA engine internals are the same as the GS, as are the clutch parts.
