Just wanted to go for a quick spin before dinner and bike didn't start. ...had a quick look and battery seems ok but I started to charge it / just in case......
I noticed that i can hear starter relais but starter doesn't move....what make me take the saddle of and lifted toolkit and to my surprise found the relais swimming in a puddle of dirty water....... so I did a dry job with warm air and tried to start the bike again but the only difference is that i can hear the relais making a louder noise than before.
Do I just have to wait longer until the relais is dry or are there other tricks ?//
///////there might be a obvious answer to this but pleeeease don't kill me ....

, and a dictionary. :thumb2

no 1 thanks

no 2 ?? I'm swiss ........ what word is wrong ?? or how many ??

no 3,,,, I have no booster here and have to wait for my van to come back......but the charger only reads 1 amp load , so i guess the battery is okay.

Water is not good especially if it's in your relay box.
It can cause different faults and make strange things happen. Best advice is to dry the whole area, get the relays off, dry heat the wiring bases below, the relays themselves should be ok as they are inverted. (depending on how much water I suppose) Perhaps put them on top of a radiator overnight.
Once its as dry as you can get it, spray with wd40 or such like, then with battery charged, you may be ok.

:thumb Upon reflection it's better spelt in Franco Suisse. :P

I have found that a battery charger will often indicate that they are doing their job but the results prove otherwise. When you have access to another battery or jump starting arrangement then you can eliminate a possible first line fault condition and progress from there. Get your van back home or get one of these:

have had the relay on the radiator over night, gave the battery a charge and blew the base out.........no joy this morning.....so jumped it with the van ...still no joy:mad:

all i can hear is the relay clicking but nothing moves ......... do i have to go to a doctor ? ......... there is nobody here in west cork with a gs911 or is there ??

Have you had a look at the starter motor to check that the trigger wire is still connected? You could even connect a multimeter to the trigger wire and see if it's receiving a voltage when you attempt to start your bike which may tell you something about the condition of your starter relay.

By the way I don't have the same bike as you and I'm just working on the assumption that it's a similar starting system.

found the fault

finally sorted my starting problem. It wasn't the battery at all . when i lifted the base of the starter relay under the tool kit i noticed a lot of corrosion on just one of the terminals and when i tried to unplug it it just fell off.
So all I had to do was replacing a connector and plug it back in the base, accompanied with a good drop of acf 5o......and uuuuuujeeeaaahhh the bike is starting like it was new :D:D:D:D:D:JB

I hope this will help some other guys in the future.

..sorry for poor pic but my lens is so sratched it won't get any better

Prevention is better than cure, perhaps its worth drilling a small hole in the bottom of the plastic relay/toolkit tray to prevent it 'puddling' in future?

Better still, trace the source of water ingress and fix that.

there is no need for that because there is a existing drain slit... .....it was probably jammed because of too many "dirty trips" :aidan,,,, ...but you're right ..I will keep an eye on it

cheers

so and now I'm desperate to go for a spin .....almost 3 bikeless days...
