after battersby's place in the pyrenees the groups expectations are now rather high!!

Stayed at the Hotel central in Traben-Trarbach which is just down the road. Not a huge town but enough to see/do for a couple of nights and a perfect location to tour from.

Good value and the host, Iris, speaks perfect English having lived in Texas for a number of years. Garage for the bikes too. Would definately go back.

I think you'll struggle to find many places that are NOT friendly to anyone, irrespective of whether they are on a pushbike, on foot, in a car or riding a motorcycle.

You should try the SEARCH function of the UKGSer site. I turned this and others up in under five seconds: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=313682&highlight=Cochem. Sometimes the Lord really does help those who help themselves.

Hotel Garni Reis

This place is 12 kms from Cochem. I spoke to people who were staying there when we were in Treis Karden and they gave it a huge thumbs up. They have secure bike parking too. And all for 24 euros for BnB :beerjug:

Try any one of these:

or this

Or this, as it mentions 'bikers', garages, routes:

or this, as again it mentions that all important 'bikers':

Half of the fun of going on a jaunt is digging out hotels. Yup, you'll make mistakes but but too many and nobody dies. The internet (where you found UKGSer, after all) is crammed with tips, advice and ideas, whilst Google can sort through millions of entries in under a second. To find the hotels I simply entered:

Good hotels Cochem

Good B&B Cochem

motorbike hotels Cochem

Try one out or use something 'safe' that someone else has tried..... Though you might just wonder how Ronno, cuffmeister, Snowman, piebaps and all, tripped over their hotels in the first place?

Maybe by luck? But just maybe it's not luck at all, simply as you would be really unlucky to find a bad and unfriendly one. Either way, they found them; you give it a go, too. When you come back, tell us what it was and someone tripping through UKGSer will thank you. To make it easy to find in SEARCH, put some key words into you post:

HOTEL (Tell us what it's called)

COCHEM (Or whatever town it was)

MOSELLE (Or some braod clue as to the sort of region)

GOOD (or bad, as the entry can work that way too)

GERMANY (Or wherever)

BIKER (if you must)

Those six simple words will narrow down the (underused) search criteria.

Then wax lyrical, include pictures (bods love pictures), links to the hotel's website (easy to do), GPS coordinates or simpler a Garmin 'Favourite' file........

Micky always recommends some old pile in Ediger-Eller, south of Cochem.

I favour Klotten, just north of Cochem.

It's all biker friendly. :thumb2

We stayed in the hotel noss in cochem on the river front, rooms were small but good and there is a garage underneath to park,we booked via booking
.com and noted the parking for six bikes on the booking, they were ready for us garage open.the view over the river is well worth it.
