Bikesure - what a load of .............

I've been with BikeSure for a few years and always been happy with the policy and service. Including the way a claim for attempted theft was dealt with in January '15.
I got the renewal in September and it hadn't gone up enough to make shopping round worth it - but when I phoned to renew and told them that I was now retired the riding other bikes entitlement vanished...which is a problem as that is the cheapest and easiest way to let me ride my wife's bike on the rare occasions that I do.
When I queried this I was told that BikeSure don't offer the 'other bikes' bit to any retired folk. I don't know what they think us retired people are likely to do - get keys to as many bikes as we can and spend all and every day razzing round causing mayhem and damage?
Sorry, I'm a bit busy for that; and insured with some one that does let me ride other bikes.

Personally I wouldn't leave my bike anywhere without at very least a disc lock fitted. They will even fit in your jacket pocket if you don't use a top box/panniers.

Is this serious? As and when and if I ever deck the bike, I can do without the additional potential damage to my tender body caused by big heavy lumps of metal in my pocket!

Its not that uncommon SuperTed (although I do think is bollox myself). Some underwriter has dreamed up that retired folk have so much time on their hands they spend all day riding round on each others bikes!! Its almost laughable. These things happen when they have no bikers helping them form opinions and make decisions.

Some of the "proper" insurers will run customer focus groups where they invite customers from various demographics in for a cuppa and a chat about vehicle use, what they would like their polices to do, customer service etc. It might not be every bikers idea of a good time but I personally think all insurers should be forced to do this with every type of risk they underwrite. It would put the customers back at the centre of their world...and they might even learn a thing or two!

I applaud them for trying to be proactive and engage their audience...but the execution of a good idea is just shocking. No offence to Jordan but he/she is probably an underpaid, under trained bod who has been given nowhere near enough info re what they are trying to achieve on hear.

Bikesure - social media (yes forums are a form of social media) are all about conversation and connections. Don't try and change the purpose of the platform to suit your needs (drive commercial revenues). Use them for what the rest of us are on here for. We all have a common interest...we share stuff, we learn a bit...and mainly to have a laugh and take the piss. If you did this your brand value would go through the roof and come renewal time 1 or 2 of us may just think "That Bikesure lot are ok...I'll give them a call and see what they can do for me".
