BikeVis Bullets

Hmm, I just fitted brake/tail/indicator LEDs and a modulator (which flashes for 1 sec then goes solid). Not been pulled yet, but then I only fitted them yesterday. the indicators have a strip of stop/tail LEDs as well - I have to say they are very attention grabbing - I have a morbid dread of being shunted from the rear.

Which ones did you fit?

Got any small video clips of your newly acquired kit? Seen as your in france..maybe it'll be okay.

The video is rubbish. The compression makes the flashing look uneven which it isn't The brake lights flash for 1.5 secs and then go solid. Subsequent applications of the brakes in the next 15 secs don't cause flashing, just solid lights

Here are mine

I bought a similar sort of 'wig-wag' thing in the States and have had fitted to my brake lights for the past four years or so. I've never been pulled for it, but I have to disconnect it for the MoT test.

Apparently the brake light should show a constant, non flickering light. Or so the MoT guy tells me.:augie

Bullet leds

I got two, one didnt survive the Dragon rally (480 miles) was replaced FOC, thanks guys. Now the other original has packed in I'm taking them off.

Verdict....Great idea, good after sales shame about the product.

Bullets V2

Installed today used the GPS socket for switched power with the BMW bare wire ended cable which was about £9 from Park LAne BMW.

Bought some £1 small brackets from B&Q and attached them to the two screws on the sides of the beak. The brackets aren't quite big enough to cob=ver the base of the Bullets so not all the sticky bottom is attached, have to see how it copes with weather, might need a bit of fiddling at a later date. You will have to drill out the holes in the brackets to so the beak screw goes through, quick minute with a drill.

Took me about an hour all in.

Here's the result.

Anybody got a view on these? Have just ordered a pair to lash on the crash bars of my GSA. Cheap as chips and the intention is to make me easier to see. Paid £16 for a pair delivered.

Not bikevis bullets, in fact I dont know what they call themselves but Smythson of this parish does and he fitted these for me, I do believe there is a thread with pics attached as well somewhere in here...

I have bike vis bullets for about 2 yrs now ? on a 1150 gs (01). I mounted them under indicators with the wire going up into the indicator body then through the stem to emerge inside the 'fairing' wired to the side light connectors with a 1 amp fuse - simples. BUT I had 3 sets of these bullets fail - but fair do's to Bikevis, they replaced them each time. I realise the problem was water getting into the front where there is a 'lens' and making them fail. The last time this happened I stripped out the failed led from the black case and replaced with a better quality one from ultraleds.co.uk - (item 501/T10/194 CERAMIC 1 x 1 Watt Ultra Xenon White) which has a better sealed front lens and a bit brighter. I also made my own extra lens to cover the front for further protection. These have been fine for months now. Shame I had to do that, but I see from a post by Bikevis they have done something to sort the problem for the new ones.
Still a great idea and I like them !

Just as an aside - I know blue ones are illegal but how come plod don't do something about all the cars and lorries that display blue leds !!!??? there's even a range rover iv'e seen about a few times with a row of 4 blue tinted spots on the front of his roof !!??

I am new to all of this so please be gentle. I have read with some interest the information relating to the BikeVis lights on this forum and have 2 sets on order. Can anyone give me an answer on the best way to wire these in to my 1995 R1100GS (with ABS if that makes a difference)? I want these lights to come on with the side lights. Do I wire direct in to the sidelight loom (fuses needed?), use a relay, butcher the existing wiring somehow?
A wiring diagram/sketch would be great from anyone who has successfully fitted these.

Cheers

Read back through the thread post no 37

I see the thread you refer to is for the 1200GS. MY 1100GS does not have the diagnostic plug referred to in the text. I assume that I could just tap in to the side light loom so that the new relay is energized when the side lights are on?

Are they the bullets or something a bit more powerful ?

The bullets are very low power and can safely be connected to the sidelight wiring without an interposing relay.

F800GS fitting

Just ordered a set of these. As I have technical abilities roughly equating to those of a haddock can anyone more gifted confirm....

a) I assume the best place to tap in to the side light wiring is actually inside the back of the light unit itself - drill thru' rear cover and feed wires through a grommet?

b) anyone know which size Positap needed and whether there's room in there for two/four of them?

Finally - if my Qs indicate a level of ignorance which is dangerous or likely to risk massive p***taking :eek then are there any West Yorks based tossers up for helping this idiot fit these little beauts? Beer, coffee, tea, fish and chips all available :beerjug:!

On your bike I would get a connector for the SAT nav plug that is sat on top of the battery. Comes on with the ignition, goes off about 20 seconds after engine stopped.

It is the way I wired my led lights on my F650GS, works a treat and no changes to existing wiring.

See - that's why I love this forum - brilliant advice in no time at all. :JB Thanks rce!! :beerjug:
