Biking plans for 2027

Only just back from a wee jaunt around Central Europe and already piecing together next year's jolly.

Hoping to hit Croatia starting from Dubrovnik and riding north towards Germany. That's the outline plan so far

Would also like to do some off road training, have looked at ORS in Wales which comes well recommended, but it's also pretty juicy price wise. Looking at another option in Northern Ireland which is pretty much half the cost. We shall see...

So what have you got on the cards for 2027? Let us know and get the jealousy flowing nicely! 👍😅
 
4 of us to Hook of Holland .. east to Lubeck, 36 hr ferry to Helsinki, up to Lhati and collect our Finnish friend Harri, back down to Helsinki and ferry across to Tallin Estonia. Stick west side and head south through Estonia Latvia Lithuania then west through the top of Poland and back in to Germany and either keep north and head back through Holland or go southish and back through La Shuttle. July 2027 and 18/20 days. Thankfully I am not planning it but it should be a proper hoot with old work chums and very excited I am too :):)
 
On the non-biking front, more use of my camper van, possibly involving some trips to watch some more classic and modern motor racing. I’d also hope to take a car (as opposed to a motorbike) on some jaunts. I’ve submitted my application for Le Mans tickets, so I’ll hopefully be back at Arnage campsite and in for practice week, too.

Riding the 8,000 miles of the German motorcycle route, still lurks at the back of my mind.

Some trips with some purpose, as opposed to driving / riding from A to B for the sake of it, hopefully. I enjoyed my trips to see the forgotten battlegrounds of the Seelow Heights and to the Hürtgen Forest; maybe I can find another ‘This is where it happened’ visit? On that front (pun intended) I’d like to go to see the new museum at Agincourt.

Much closer to home, taking public transport or my bicycle to see more of London. Bods on the forum seem to enjoy the ‘Wanders’ I have done, so I really should do something more, as they cost next to nothing. Not least, I only have to step out of my front door, to be in the middle (or near enough) of it all.

Being a grandparent, will be as much fun as anything else. I have fond memories of all four of mine. I’d like to extend that privilege to my
granddaughter, too.

The forum is as good a place as any. There’s a current thread where the author is taking the train (as opposed to biking) into Rome. Public transport opens up a country and places to different opportunities. Not least, it’s an adventure (with a small ‘a’) of its own.
 
Booked a house near Castleisland,
county Kerry for 8 of us next June
After our 2024 tour of N Ireland and the WAW northern half as far as Galway with different hotel each night decided having a house is a much better option

Bit more mileage to do the necessary roads and peninsulas but much better socially as found for France last year and Belgium & Germany this year

Hopefully get usual spring & autumn UK mini trips organised
 
The group have been mentioning the Crieff Cloverleaf as our annual trip. I’ve had a look and altered it it a bit to suit a large group better.
My brother and I are in the very early stages of planning a trip to Chamonix where we’ll meet up with my lad and the perhaps the Dolomites for a few days.
My lad keeps sending me messages and videos of the Sandraiders event which he’s wanting us to do!!!

That’s it so far.

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, northern Germany, it is all very flat and bland over that way, especially the eastern block, you wasting your time going there. Should hit Stelvio pass instead, on animal basis, a pilgrimage place, a Mecca for a biker mate if today.

At least that’s is what’s being said on the internet. Then again, if you like to discover new less visited frontiers, experience different cultures, then you all shall have a good time. Enjoy!

I like reading ride reports, even about places I’ve been to and have seen with my own pair of eyes. That in it self does not matter that much to me. It is how the person has written. We all write in a very different ways.
There are bods which churn up a lot more photos on this very forum, considerably less in a way of words. Which is a shame really, a photo is just that, a photo without a context.
Others are very good with their witty side, and do write some stuff that makes you burst out in uncontrollable laughter from time to time even when f pictures a few and far between.
Then there are types like me, who do rewrite War & Peace novels over and over again, include necessary photos for context, a bit from the internet about a place and might even include a route traveled as a bonus.
Still as you have said, “that’s a good thing”, even if I do get mocked for it. You can’t please everyone at once, sometimes not even on a one to one basis.
 
Not much planned yet .
Tenerife is booked in February.
Brittany TET in April/May ish.
Possibly Spain at some point .
Possibly Utah in October ish.
 
Not finished 2026 yet, with a trip to the Pyrenees and La Rioja later this month into October.

2027: no firm plans for a number of reasons. If my Paris based friend organises another gathering of UKRM in N France over the May Day Bank holiday weekend then that could get extended and might include others. The others are all at least a decade older than me so that is where some uncertainty comes in.
The longer autumn trip might be somewhat less planned than in recent years where I have bought a ferry ticket quite early and prebooked hotels.
 
Off to Australia on Jan 1st for a few months. As before, will buy a bike to explore on.

Then in September we plan to ship the 1100 to Bishkek in Kyrgistan for a ride around there before heading through China to SE Asia and Australia. Nothing booked yet, but Her Indoors is determined, and who am I to stand in her way?

Spain and Portugal via Ireland coming up in a few weeks, back late November on the 1100. Bit of a leisurely one that, looking forward to it, might even have a go st some of the ACT while we are there.

Of to Austria with the Lads next week. Probably another look around the Balkans next May/June with the Wife we do like it down that way will miss Czechia and Poland this time so as to get to see more of Albania and probably North Macedonia. Plus a couple of other trips in to Europe.
