I'll shortly be up in the Glasgow area for an overnight stay

Would appreciate a good scenic circular route around a 100-150 miles in length starting and ending in Glasgow to see a bit of the fantastic Scottish countryside I've heard so much about

Must have a nice country cafe part way round to refuel with pies!

Anyone got any suitable routes?

Not much of a choice in this area

North south east or west

your choice ye won't go wrong unless ye like motorways:thumb2

Nth West is best:beerjug:

Was up visiting the folks at the weekend and took a run out through Bearsden, then Drymen, out to Balloch then along the side of Loch Lomond up to Tarbet.......... do a loop round through Crianlarich on the A82 back to Inverary and then down to Arrochar.

Once you get to Arrochar you have the choice of the A814 to Helensburgh which is 6 miles of the maddest jumps you will ever see on a mainland UK road along the side of Loch Long......... or you could just go back along the side of Loch Lomond which is open and nice views

I always go the A814 route and laugh my head off at getting the GS airborne repeatedly 2 up :JB

Absolutely :thumb2 +2

A cracking stretch of rollercoaster road which feels even faster with the stone dykes so close. Was the best thing about been based at Faslane years ago. Next time I am through that way I'll do a video for YouTube. Only done it twice on the GS but its great for the changing road surfaces, though I rediscovered that its a physical impossibility to steer round corners when none of your tyres are touching the ground :blast

The last time I took any photos on that road was 30 years ago:eek: My BMW R60/5 was still one of the best handling around the road among my friends bikes including a Kawasaki 750, a Norton Commando and a Triumph Trident. However they all left me standing if we turned right towards Helensburgh :( Odd to think that the R60/5 was half the capacity of my R1200GS
