Probably the best days riding so far( and toughest):thumb2

Yesterday was probably the hardest but best days riding I've ever done. We rode up some local passes to 12,500ft and the tracks were a little trying to say the least especially with the thin air! Some of the trackes weer so steep that if you stpped, the bike would slide backwards with all brakes on. Still, it's all about giving it your best shot so we got to the top with just a few get offs. Unbelievably, Gary stayed upright all day:augie

Others with camera's that work properly will have great pics from the top but I managed to snap the torm which nearly had us. It started to thunder and it was far too close so we beat a hasty retreat and managed to avoid getting too wet:eek:.

We did around 60 miles in 5 hours but then fell across a great little restaurant with home made blueberry pie and ice cream:D Luckily, blueberry pie is part of our 5 a day.

And just as masterful at charades too. Apparently he managed to pull off Sparticus with his left hand, whilst his right hand was a blur succesfully finishing off all of the pirates of the caribbean within the alotted 2 minutes :D:D

Just wanted to say here that a big well done to Grez for yesterday. As yoiu have read and seen a few pix, he had a monster off way back in Tennessee which would have ended a few people trips. Skygod did a brilliant job sorting his injuries out and Grez has been riding the roads whilst we have been on the dirt. Some of the roads across Oklahoma are soul destroying at the best of times without knowing everyone else is having fun whilst you are droning westward.

Anyway, his dirt riding confidence was understandably shot after the accident so we got him back on the dirt in the last couple of days. He unbelieveably got up to around 12000ft yesterday on his old green KLR which sounds like it's powered by morphy richards. At one point he said it was the hardest thing he'd ever done but the grin on his face said it was probably the most rewarding:D

Some of those tracks were seriously hard core and would make a lot of good riders turn back so well done Grez buit he wantd to ride high in the rockies and dug very very deep:clap

Thanks to all the guys yesterday for helping Grez get up there because we all wanted to see him do it:clap Well done mate:thumb

The last couple of days ring in Colorado have been fantastic but today trumped the lot. We stayed in Lake City last night and after a bizarre night of a bar, pitchers of beer and a good jukebox, we had a late start whaich wasn't helped by the local diner unable to cope with the breakfast rush.

Anyhow, we rode straight up to the amongst the highest passes in the US, Cinnamon and Engineer passes which are around 12800ft each. Now, I've ridden through the Rockies a number of times and seen some great sights but today surpassed anything I'd seen before.

The tracks up were good and a little technical in places to keep you on your toes but given the tough stuff we'd been riding, we whizzed up to the summits.Saying that, one decent was so steep it felt like you were going over the bars at any minute but no problem for us hardy souls.

My camera is crap so none of my pix show the beauty of the world from that altitude and I'm sure Tim will post some belters. However, I hope you can see a little bit of what we saw today. There are abandoned gold and silver mines all around to add interest. Just to finish the day the right way, we rode the Million Dollar Highway down to Durango. Days really don't get any better that this:)
