Bilco's TAT tour 2011

Likewise with yourself.
I have my eyes on a couple of bikes at the minute so hopefully i will have something to ride.

I know where there is a nice little KLR for sale. One careful owner......:D

I thought it suited you myself:augie

The alltitude and company on the holiday must have affected me - in a good way.

I am now about to become the owner of a 2005 KTM 450 EXC, which on the test ride tried to kill me. I hope to calm its desire to hoist the front wheel in the first three gears long enough to ride some trails before it succeeds in its aim.

Next stop the parts shop for a bigger tank (9L is really way too small) and different sprockets.

Excellent choice Grez! (I have similar although slightly newer) :thumb:thumb
Your lack of power worries are over!
Standard tank is perfectly serviceable for day rides in this part of the world.

Richard,

Thanks for the info. Will still look to calm it down a bit as currnetly 1 mm of throttle launches the damn thing and being a bit cack handed I see problems. I will check the teeth on the rear sprocket when I pick it up and see if you have any suggestions.

I will keep the standard tank, any idea of milage I would get?

Do you know what we own you for the UPS parcel yet?

Generally look to fill up 70-80 but haven't run out yet :hide
Blue may be able to offer a more accurate figure (-he's also got one)
Mind you -he's probably heavier on the throttle as well as being heavier than me

Will look into this-probably one or two who owe me for Chris' present as well.

Was it the one from up near Leeds that was on Ebay? If so,you beat me to it!!:bow:bow
If it is,it's actually an '06model on a 55plate. It would have been in my garage if i had the transport to pick it up!!

If i was you,i wouldn't tame it unless it has been fiddled with,i found my old '05 very smooth right from the bottom to mid range, but from then on it went like a raped ass(am i allowed to say that on here?:nenau)

As for fuel range, what Time and Tide said,it should easily go 100miles on a tank.
What i would do is,keep an eye out for an '04-'07 MXC tank/seat,these are 13litres which again would be more than plenty unless doing super long range stuff. The standard tank was plenty for UK rides.
Consider a radiator fan, either wire up a computer fan(12V) and cable tie it on or buy the proper one from KTM,i think it would be about 80quid these days.
If it is that one from Leeds,it has a plastic quick release bash plate,i had one and bashed the hell out of mine(as you can imagine),plenty good enough.

Right.....do a post a few pics?:beerjug:

Thanks for the info Blue, don't know if it was on ebay I got it from Viva Moto in Bradford (saw it on autotrader) and does have the plastic bash plate. I don't know what the gearing is but when I pick it up saturday I can post the details.

The motorcross lads at work suggested I leave it as it is and ride a few times to see how well I get used to it before changing things.
