I must congratulate BMW on producing the first green motorbike panniers, they will just gently corrode away!

Evidently a lack of protection ie no lacquer is not why they corrode its according to dealer because of stone chips (On the lid and at the back??) and they are exposed!! I assume this means they should be bought purely for ornaments and when you need panniers to carry something buy someone else's!!

Has anyone painted theirs and if so how did you achieve it? ie what primer and did you disassemble them?

Dont know anyone who has painted them but I can tell you how. Use acid etch primer and whatever topcoat takes your fancy. If you use spray cans then take it easy and put lots of coats on because the paint is thin. Whether to strip or not depends on how good you are at masking. To be hones if I was going to the bother of stripping them I would probably look at getting them powder coated.

painting

64 looks and no painters out there?

If you want spend your hard earned cash on painting them we will do it for you at a cost . But when you do and you will get a stone chip it will even worse . Accident repair centre storrington .

Or you could just coat them in ACF50 or WD40 once a week. They stay in good nick if you look after them. Autosol gets them back to shiney then protect them :thumb2

dont buy the panniers then:nenau

Talk about bolting door after horse has bolted, for those of you who are slow on uptake I already have panniers and when I got them didnt realise how quickly they would fade!!
