Birmingham Resorts World Arena - parking access and public transport suggestions?

Maybe a long shot and I've left it very late (my bad) but you never know... 8 year old daughter is in a show there tonight and I need to get myself wifey and 7 year old daughter there between 7 and 9pm. Parking is a (to me) obscene £13 (£12 if paid in advance) and train from Stoke-on-Trent or Crewe is £60+ and times don't work well anyway (more hassle than it's worth I fear). Call me negative but I foresee a world of pain getting in and out of the car park :blast 😭 :D

Just wondering if any locals may have some top tips to minimise the pain and hassle of getting in and out and whether anyone can suggest from personal experience a train station part way along the route in from the north at which we might park easily and get the train from there to Birmingham International (right next door to the Arena-ish) to avoid the worst of the parking doom I fear? TIA for any replies.
