What about 'Cheil'?

A 'Ba/Bo Cheil' is a cattle (Ba/Bo) boy in Caithness- but I'm not sure if the word 'Cheil' itself is Gaelic.

From what little I know of Irish Gaelic, 'bh' and 'mh' are pronounced as 'v' so Loch Voil may be a corruption of something beginning with that sound :nenau
