Bit of an urgent stupid oil Q

Prepping bike for first of the daily 140 commutes. Had low oil couple of weeks back and was near Oxford so popped into Motorrad to buy some. They sold me Castrol Power 1 Racing (4T 10W-50). Filled up. No probs. Just run her and oil's way low. Got half a pot of that stuff left then three of the oil the previous owner use which he gave me. That's Castrol GT (4T 20W-50). Presuming she's about to swallow all the 10W I have and need more, can I top up with 20W.
Grateful if we can have a 24 hour moratorium on piss-taking and stupid answers please as I only have an hour before I'm on kids duty.

I would use what you have to top up, don't worry about mixing them

New job. Brassic until first pay day but okay after that. Thank God. Was horrible for a while there. Different when you have kids, I discovered - proper fear re £. Should be fine now tho.

Yep, very true. Will have to watch it this week too as the bike's clearly swallowing the stuff like a boss-eyed teenager at a porn audition.

Just a word of caution....Before you go topping up, make sure you check the level properly. the sight glass can be showing empty or low after running the engine.

Cheers Keith. I ran it and then gave it 15 to cool off and it was way down so deffo low. Appreciate the heads up tho - never assume too much where 1200 owners are concerned...

When I got my 1200GS serviced by Lind BMW, I asked them to use semi synthetic as the fully synthetic "Makes the engine knock like a bastard". It's in the handbook, so it can be used perfectly safely.
