So I`m taking the HP on the trans American trail trip with Bilko and the other reprobates and I`m after some inspirational advice.

Having travelled a lot on the HP I know that as the day goes on its increasingly hard to throw my leg over the bike ( i`m a short arse) so I`m looking for some soft luggage options that mean I can throw my leg over still and the kit won`t get in the way.

Clearly some soft panniers could be the best option but anyone have any specific recommends and how do they cope with the end can?

Any other ideas welcome.

Ta.

Ventura luggage system and turn the bag round as if you had a pillion :nenau

Try Magno off here, he's just bought some Austrailian stuff that he rates, but I'll be beggered if I can remember what it's called:blast

got some Dane soft luggage you'll need a guide frame to hold it off the exhaust but that's just some 30mm x 4mm mild steel with some braces welded on it, I threw mine away...after use never thought I'd need it again

also I've got a set of smaller tank saddle bags for snacks and water, look similar to TT ones but mine where £10 and performed just as well as the TT kit

I might need to dig out the pictures

why not go ZEGA

i got a Holan rack and fitted some Zegas, no problems and much easier than soft bags. although a bit spendy initially

What you gonna use on your new bike, Tom:nenau

Kreiga US20+US10 .. add to an existing R20

Less than 1/3 of price of giant loop .. will do for what I need

Was thinking oxford products throwovers but no real resale on those

I sometimes use 1x20 and 2x 10 strapped to the back. 10s on either side of the 20, and it does not make it too tall. Loads of storage and waterproof.

TT Zegatex

I have been using the TT Zegatex tail pack.

(from the TT website: HP2 luggage system Zegatex
01-055-1255-0)

I bought it probably four year ago (and a lot cheaper than what it costs now) and been using it ever since, fairly versatile - from weekend camping trips to month long tours.

It is a lot lighter than metal panniers, fits the HP2 perfectly, doesn't interfere with the exhaust (both OE and Acrapovic)

wouldn't have anything else

a bit weather protected but not waterproof..
