Bit torrent sites - advice please

I need a coupla bits of software to get me sony camcorder working with windows vista.
Picture Package and Picture Motion Browser
I lost the original CD disc (Picture Package) and key code that came with the camera so can't download sony's upgrade (Picture Motion Browser) for free. This is the software that would allow the camera to now work with Vista.
So I have a coupla options
1 Pay $30 each for the two bits of software on offer at a coupla sites.
2 Pay $5 to join a torrent site which alledgedley gives me lifetime membership of the site and I can then download all manner of things that I mostly don't want but you never know :nenau
Seems like a no brainer really but, when I read through the membership and payment details of the $5 sites they all put your card through porn sites for payment. They say it's to protect your anonimity. I presume this is their way of stopping folk from being prosecuted for downloading things that are copyrighted?
I'm tempted but I have warning bells.
I don't like the idea of my card details going through a porn site.
What d'ya think?

I pissed around for about 6 hours yesterday trying to acheive this, now 5 mins after posting my question I'm downloading for free.

As Tuned mentioned mininova is a favorite of mine.... very clear and easy. the other and reputedly one of the largest free ones is www.piratebay.org - not to be confused with the .com piratebay - that one is a pay site.

Never pay for stuff like this!!!!

between the above two websites i usually find everything i want

Tip; once you've searched for something and the search list comes up, click on the head of the "seed" column. It will change the order and put the ones with the most seeds at the top (faster)

or just google for "whatever torrent" which will search them all at once.

pirate bay has a handy comments section to check what you're getting :)

Next problem
I downloaded both peices of software and tried to instal Picture Package 1st but get a message saying something like:-
"Windows cannot open Sony Picture Package.iso cause it needs to know what program you will use to open it. go online to choose a prog or pick one already installed on yer PC."

I clicked the "online" option and it came up with a bunch of alternatives but I need to purchase one of them to open up/instal the software I just downloaded.

What next please ???

.iso means it's a disc image. as clive says you need a decent burning program (nero) to create a usable disc from the image.
 
I managed to download ISOBUSTER from the piratebay site, but when attempting to instal it I am directed to a Sony site to register it with a 16 digit code.
Do I just have to bite the bullet and break into me wallet after all ? :tears

Look in the other files, if any, that came with the .iso file, you might find some text telling you the answer you seek about the 16 digit code.

Thanks for the file, it's getting the same result as the one I donwloaded, it lets me open the files but I can't register them with Sony's site without the 16 digit code.

I got this from the "setup.ini" thing, anything of any use there d'ya think?

it won't be in that file you copied above.

the key number, or possibly a keygen, you need may be in a text file or folder called "crack" "serial" or "keygen" or something of that ilk.

it is also possible, but less likely, that it is in a file with a .inf suffix. you will need to change that to .txt to read it.
 
Just had a look at the comments against the likely one you downloaded - it says it is an ISO image of the original CD - doesn't look like it contains a Key/Serial.

Just had a quick search for "Sony Picture Package serial keygen" - a lot of the usual suspects - welcome to the world of pr0n dialers and virii :D
 
OK, I'm gonna call a halt here and admit defeat, law of diminishing returns, or summat.
Been pissin around at this for a day and a half on and off so far to save meself $60?
I know I'm from north o the border but, I've opened the wallet and let me moth collection out for the day.

If you need a torrent go to: torrents.to you can browse all the torrent sites from there.
Use Azureus as your torrent down loader
