Imagine my surprise when my bike presented me with a present on arrival at the campsite at the Sachsenring for the GP.

I followed the german campsite official to our designated spot and was met with failry damp ground. Just looking for me sidestand puck in tank bag when my missus siad " No need, look!" and there it was, BMW automatic side stand puck deployment (option 101 when you buy new apparently) curtesy of my bash plate having snapped 3 of it's mounting rubbers on the way up from Austria :(

It was hanging from a very thin strip of rubber on the last remaining mount. Not all bad though as in the succeding 3 days we had enough rain to cause the odd mud slide in Sachsony and my bash plate cum side stand puck meant my bike didn't fall over on the boggy ground like matey's ridiculously modified Bandit at the side of us. Every cloud and all that:toungincheek

On a serious note, anyone else had this and if so is there a beefier fitting kit out there other than the OE BMW one? Shudder to think what would have happened had this detached at 100+mph on the autobahn!!!

Yes, they do snap, but normally just one or maybe two go, but three:eek

I've seen the guard broken off during offroad forays, the shallow front seems to catch on rocks and logs:nenau

You live in Bolton near Sunderland? There is a manufacturer near you that sells excellent bash plates for about £85 on Ebay. Pete Cullin and myself have them fitted to our 1200's and are very happy with them.
