Black engine cases - cleaning up

Any recommendations guys ? I've bought an 1150GS with black engine & gearbox cases, they need a good clean-up.
What works well on this black finish. I think the coating is sound, it's just a bit furry on the surface.

wd40, bumper back to black, shoe polish, yeah seriously! all work well.

or cover it in acf-50 and it soon gets covered in shite then you dont have to worry about cleaning
