Hi

I'm looking for a little feedback. For all of my bikes I have changed the exhausts, mainly if I'm honest, to get a sound I like.

I haven't yet on my current GSA as the stock wasn't too bad but have decided to change it now.

I was thinking of getting a black end can, Yoshimura R77 in black, Akrapovic or the Remus 8.
The black looks good but I was thinking it's in direct line of fire for stones and crap from the rear wheel so is it just going to get lots of chips that would just drive me mad?

Anyone got a black can and how has it stood up so far?

Thanks

Hi Bob,

I've had the black Akra end can on mine since i picked it up from the showroom in Sep 2015. I've put around 9k miles on it now (not many for 2.5 years i know but i also have a RnineT which i use). Still looks as good now as it did the diy i picked it up. No chips or marks (other then the ones i gave it when i removed the pannier racks rather clumsily)...

Hope this helps,

Chris

I've got black Akras on both bikes. On a recent trip through Europe, the exhaust got caked in tar spots, so I was concerned at using my usual product to remove them. I needn't have worried, as they came straight off, and the exhaust looks as good as new.

The only thing to bear in mind is that if you scratch it (like I did with the helmet lock cord :blast), it's a bit of a pain to touch up.

Thanks. I am leaning towards the Remus 8 for a change from the Akras on my last three bikes. I'm hoping it's as well made

I can be a bit hamfisted and would probably end up doing the same. What did you touch it up with?

Maybe I should get the stainless..... hmmm. If I changed in January for the new GSA Rallye which would like better when I transferred the can to that

I used a Sharpie! It's filled the light scratch in (only about an inch, and very fine). Others have used boot polish, strangely.

Remus 8 is a beautifully made end can, and sounds schweet too .

It's been hard to find any decent sound samples of it but I have liked the Remus pipes in the past. I will go for the Race version with removable baffles so I can pick the noise level.
Glad to hear it is still well made

Get your standard can ceramic coated and fit decat headers. This will give bit off an extra growl and smooth things out a bit.
The aftermarket cans are a bit on the loud side, especially on motorways where it drones away.

And it didn't burn off or discolour? Well maybe I will go with the black then.

Nope, you can't see where the scratch was, unless you get up very close, and know exactly where to look.

If you don't ride on motorways much, you won't notice the extra noise, especially if you wear earplugs.

My Mrs. has the carbon Remus on her 1200RS and not only does it look good it sounds a treat too, without taking the baffle out. Much deeper note to it than the Akra.

That's kind of the note I'm looking for. I think the current Akrapovic on the LC sounds a bit dry if that makes sense. I want a deeper note
