The non Irish looking at this post are probably scratching their heads & wondering what Black Eye Friday is, but it is almost certain they have experienced it, though they do not have a formal day named in it's honour.

English being a language which adopts anything, maybe this is a term which might be useful in common parlance around this time of year.

We know it locally as builders Friday as it's when all the builders and associated trades finish for Xmas and hit the town, but black eye Friday seems more appropriate.
