Six of us on the early train on Saturday for a ride across to the Black Forest. Coined the "Unfinished Business Tour" from when we went via the B500 to get down to Motorrad days but the whole thing was fog bound in July wtf. We're away for the week, and I will attempt to post from the road using my phone. Mostly planned routes on google maps and shared via text with the group, not everyone has satnavs. I have also used routes from Ride mag for when we're there, so mix and match.

So on the train. I thought it would be bedlam but it was swift and we got a slightly earlier train. We arrived 1h10 before our scheduled departure.

My heart sank when I found a fork seal weeping at 1630 yesterday. I’m keeping an eye on it. O cording to the group doesn’t look too bad. If it comes to it I’ll seek a repair in Baden on Monday. I’m not heavy on the front brake anyway so shouldn’t be too much diving about.

We have a non motorway route to Hotel Eden, Neufchateau today.

Need coffee for me and fuel for the bike.

Stayed at Danes Mercure at Maidstone last night. Slept alright for a 0450 alarm. Corridors stink of weed. Staff very nice, food alright. It has now occurred to me, prompted by Wapping, to stay in France on first night, silly innit.

Have a good trip.

Coffee at Mummelsee highly recommended

If you have any spare time, I would recommend staying around the lower Ardennes for a day... some excellent riding roads around the area of Dinant and Namur ... we used to stay at the Hotel Cobut which also had great camping places. Unfortunately it has closed down. The Dutch owner used to have route cards... the Belgian Police used the area for advanced bike training. Enjoy, I go over to Germany every year, off there, but only to a rally, next week

We’ll be focussing on the Ardennes on the way home.

We’re slowly picking our way across. It’s going to take til 1800 I think. Might pick a bit of A road off if they get fed up.

Weather is 21 degrees and sunny.09614FE9-213D-4D8D-8D68-085C32EA741E.jpeg

Ooh mummy my botty hurts. 11 hrs since we got off the train we’ve arrived at the Hotel. Nice family rooms with mezzanine twins upstairs. I’ve taken the room with the balcony and the king size. Cos I’m a fat c*nt.9DD8C3B3-91CB-4F9F-96D5-874B66C24111.jpeg

Fuck France and it’s 80, 50, 30 speed limits I could have died out there man. Should have used motorway to near Ardenne.

Two should’ve so far. Take note.

How on earth has it taken you 11 hours to get from Calais to Neufchateau, which is a smidge past Bouillon? Have I misunderstood something?
