Despite regular dousing with ACF 50 my 12 plate Hexhead has suddenly started flinging paint off its frame in odd places - and some not so odd. Is there a consensus on what the best paint might be to touch up these bits before they get worse?:nenau

I WOULD SAY ANY RUST INHIBITOR PAINT WOULD BE GOOD ENOUGH.
Or if you want to make a proper job you will need a 2k epoxy primer and polyurethane paint like they use on tipper trucks body
This is an alternative to the powder coating but in reality, this is the same paint in different application

I recently took all seats, lights, pannier brackets, plastic panels etc etc off the rear sub-frame of mine as there was quite a lot of corrosion. Just rubbed it down, wiped it clean and put on smooth black hammerite with a brush mainly and finished with a top coat of the same from a rattle can. It ended with a nice smooth finish that hopefully will last a long time. I do need to do the centre stand still though.

Artists paintbrush an a tin of Humbrol enamel modelling paint.
