Kirky, bring as many guns as you like.
.45's are a bit of overkill as we do not get many bears on SS do's (unless you count Garfield:augie) a .223 should suffice for most SS bash disturbances.....

Well, I never dirnk port without wearing either full evening dress or a smoking jacket and fez ( but only in informal get-togethers).

Here a plan

I promised to arrange clay shooting and it shall be so. I have the place - 5 mins from the hall, I have the trap, I have the clays, I have ammo and I have the gun/s. The only thing I do'nt have is enough arms, so are there any SGC holders who can lend a hand?
There are 20 ish bodies, so assuming everyone wants to play, there will be some standing about. So how about introducing some competition. I can organize some .22 target shooting and a fly casting competition -casting into hoop type thing. In other words a mini game fair? With prizes?
If we do this, we can organize 3 teams and there will be far less hanging about.
It would take a few mins to shuttle people to here - I can get 9 in my L/Rover at a push.
This can take place Sat am or pm, or Sun am, whichever is most popular. I guess the whole thing will take a couple of hours

Fishing.
In the nether regions fishers engage in something called " coorse fishing". This involves the pursuit of carps, roaches and other vermin, usually involving small wiggly things on something called a rig. I believe they do this in the winter - this presumably reflects the shite shooting they have down there; shooting being what gentlemen do up here in the winter.
Here angling is called "game fishing" where gentlemen angle for proper fish --trout, sea trout and salmon --usually with a fly. Game fish breed in the winter and are therefore off limits -trout from 6/10 and salmon (on the Tay system) from 15/10 --so what I am trying to say is -- no fishing. Come earlier next year!!

I would vote for the clays etc on the Saturday (early to mid afterenoon: Before folk get fired in aboot the alcopops?).

To have it on the Sunday would run the risk of poor attendance due to either hangovers (guns going off when yer heid's in reek? :eek:) or folk needin' to start heading off hame...(just my opinion and I'll happily go with what the majority want to dae)
 
Sounds good to me, having seen some of our guests after a few drinks, the thought of them being armed is truly disturbing! :yikes

Sat(pm) sounds good for the sports, Some of us will be going for a ride am prior to arriving. Guns and Hangover no a gud idea, cannae hit feck all sober and I've bin trying fer years:blast
