Hello,

I'm going on a bit of a trip (www.planitearth.co.uk) and would like to paint my bike matt black so that it looks old, cheap and rubbishy!

Is there a paint that can be removed or an undercoat that I can apply so that when I get back I can get rid of the black paint?

Random question, I know!

Charles

You might find it better to buy a tatty baglux then tattify it some more maybe?

Insulating or duct tape around other parts would add to the effect, but I suspect you'd have problems with an actual paint finish :nenau

Oh yeah, and add some tatty stickers etc......it shouldn't be too hard to scruff a bike up with temporary covers, but don't worry too much....it's more the attitude that'll get you through so as long as you're not too bling, you'll be fine.

Good luck BTW......we did a lot of stuff with/for the make a wish foundation when I was with the AA .......a bloody good cause and a nice charidee to work with :thumb2

Fanum, thanks for that. Just looking forward to getting out on the road now...

Was thinking that I could plaster it with stickers as I go, but it could be an idea to buy a sheet of matt black stickystuff and put that on as a base.

That ACF50 stuff looks interesting too, to keep the electrical connections and forks corrosion free.

Keep the suggestions coming!

What about that paint they use on road signs to temporarily obscure the writing? It's usually grey, I know, but you might be able to get other colours. Just a thought.

I wrapped a mates car in cling film and then painted it with kids water colours for a laugh. (I'd been drinking!)

Waited till he sobered up and explained that I'd been having a go with the paint sprayer thing in his garage. Bloody bloke almost killed me before i got the words out saying it was a joke....!

Some people have no sense of humour...

I would say however it was a totally brilliant effect the cling film made ridges and wrinkles and the water colours made the thing look a million years old and flakey

Why not try ...

... BMW fork brace paint; you'll probably get it in black :blast
