Had mine now for 4 days and in some respects I am not to pleased with the set . Here is the good and the bad.

Good,

-Great screen, viewing pics and watching vids is amazing.
-Loudspeaker is clear and loud.
-Music is as good as my nano .
-Love how SMS and emails are managed, and how easy it was to set up.
-The phone looks and feels great, the weight is spot on.
-Browser seems pretty solid and easy to navigate, 3G faster than i expected (when available!)
-Vf have a dedicated eforum for the Storm , a admin will answer your question.

Bad,

-There is a gap between the screen and the main case (you can see the electronics). On all promotional material and on the dummy the screen was flush . I understand why the gap is there , but why they couldn't have some sort of grommet around the screen ,to stop dust and other shit/moisture getting in there ?.
-Battery life is terrible, not even lasting the day (in stand by dropped 25% over the night), so taking a charger or spare battery everywhere is a must.( why they made the claims offer the battery life of 15 day stand by and 6 hours talk time beats me)
-Trying to bring up the media progress bar is pretty much impossible.
-The 4 buttons at the bottom seem very poorly fitted and i can see why some peoples have snapped off. The end call key seems to be the only one that fits flush.
-The carry case is two tight, not helping the previous issue and also causing the screen to click.
-The main worry for me at the moment is the screen. The top right corner of the touchscreen has become very unresponsive, sometimes not clicking at all! Its not so noticeable because of where it is but this could spread to other areas of the screen.
-I was barred receiving incoming/out going calls ( now is resolved)
-Not having Flash ( cant watch iplayer, some utube )
-There was no data card in the box ,you have only a gig of space on the device.

According to Vf the new batch of sets will come with updated software:rolleyes:.
I don't have any experience with the iPhone , but they must be rolling on the floor seeing RIMs predicament.

I shall persevere with the Storm for the time .Its a bit like my BMW:blast

That the quality is so poor is such a shame. You'd expect it to be pretty good based on their existing devices. The Pearls are crackers.

I was expecting a new Storm to be a shoo-in as a replacement for my Pearl in a few months, but maybe I'll need to consider others too.

What has Vodafone said about the overall quality? Could you reject it?

Mine is going back tomorrow (crashed twice today),and is replaced by a Bold ( I just have to put up with the battery life ,plus I have a spare one ) .
I am sure Storm 2 will be a polished hanset ,just like the iPhone 2 , but for now I don't have time to be a beta tester.
If you go to Vf main site they run a forum , some people have different issues.Makes you wonder why they released it in the present format.

Zoltan, that's a very useful write up - many thanks! I'll be sticking with my 8700 for the time being. The battery life is the deal breaker for me: completely unacceptable. It would mean taking a charger even for an overnight business trip.

Storm is for wannabe teenagers. Bold is the Blackberry to have if you are looking for a work tool rather than a toy.

This is turning into a jurnal

Bold arrived today , is going back tomorrow . The retain button that holds the back of the device is not working ( spring is to weak?!).
At least Vf are taking care of me:mmmm
