Blade street fighter project

Well yer not building a race bike, I know...but weight is everything for accelleration, speed and cornering...

Ti fasteners are not that expensive from the USA, and taking a dump AND Ti fasteners will get you there even quicker! My mate the racer lost 2 stone and won his championship twice afterwards...(with Ti fasteners also)

I just think that after all the time and effort building such a project...I personally would be doing the best I could...and Stainless...thats out of the arc! Even ally would be better, and anodised black or matt green or whatever...hmmmm!

Still, as Kenny said...this is the tractor site!

:beerjug:

Haway then, where can you get the Ti stuff from? have you got a contact?

Dude - they'll blow you're head off

My bro took mine for a spin (its been Yoshi'd that's all) and he came back a quivering wreck :D "mental, totally mental was all he could utter"

STD K8 makes 180bhp , Yoshi full system R77 takes it to 190 :eek

Sweet:D I deffinitely fancy a go on one :aidan

Managed to get it tested today so I'll tax it tomorrow and then start using and improving it. Ordered a new set of tyres too so I think I might have to give in to the inner child and attempt a rolling burnout to see off the old uns :o :D

We want a video of that:spitfire

I'll try and post some more pics soon.
Got the MRA screen on it now and changed the tyres (didn't get round to a burn out which may not be a bad thing:D)
Had the forks to bits again as I'm a skinny git and at the relatively low speeds I'm riding at it was too skittish. Progressive springs and lighter oil have sorted it:thumb2.
Got my collar felt by the law today for the first time ever, the officer noticed the small (ish) plate and when he ran it through the computer it showed up as an invalid number. Thats due to the fact it was only taxed etc last week so the DVLA haven't updated their info.
Got a £30 fine for the plate and a warning about the exhaust as it's not Emarked. Fair enough I suppose. I was only 600 yards from home:blast
I won't be out on it untill it's all legal which could entail a whole new back end to accomodate a BS stamped can:( North Yoks police are taking a hard line on bikes and living on the Helmsley TT means I'm right in the thick of it. I had intended to keep the zed style back end and get a new tail unit and seat made up as it atracts loads of WTF is that? comments.

Tailpiece is from a late model Yamaha R6 and I really don't want to ruin the look by sticking on a numberplate!! Had thought about a side mouted plate but not sure.

looks sweet....dont worry about a number plate, you will have more fun without one :D

Cool looking Blade there Piglet :thumb2

I like the tail unit on that:thumb2 One thing that this wee project has tought me is that even on a fairly modest build (I ain't done anything radical with this since I got it) the amount of time and attention to detail is way way more than you'd expect. I bet that CX took a long time to sort despite it looking like there's not much there.
I've got a couple of weeks off work now so am going to finish the blade..........
will finish the blade....................... must finish the blade!
TBH I kinda lost interest after getting my collar felt and for certain reasons can't afford to get too much police attention. Went out on it again not so long ago and was warned about the pipe so I've got a more conventional fully legal stubby coming which I'll make a link pipe up for next week, kinda like THIS
It might have to go the journey once it's sorted as I may need the funds for something else but we'll see:(

Well the exhaust can and mirrors took longer to arrive than expected. Finally got them yesterday. The bike went straight down to a guy near Teesside airport who makes custom exhausts. Dropped it off teatime yesterday with the can and voila..........

Fully leagal can with removable baffle. Just got to make up a nice hangar bracket:)
The mirrors are sat at my folks house so hopefully I'll get chance to get them on tomorrow (I'm off to bed now in anticipation of an exciting night shift:rolleyes:).
Nearly there with it:bounce1

For anyone who may be interested, the guy who made the link pipe is called Kevin Pickering, he's literally 500yds from Teesside airport and is a top bloke who does a great job at a very reasonable price as it's more of a hobby than a business. He can make pretty much anything for anything including headers, link pipes and cans and has made systems for a couple of race teams. He'd just made a fully system for a 4pot hardtail chop when I was there and it looked really nice. His number is 07989 888585

The bikes really starting to look sharp piggy!

Nice job...it looks as though you may have succumbed to the SS fasteners tho! Tsk! :rob

What's the tailpaice off...looks like a kwakish chop job to me?

:beerjug:

Cheers :thumb2 It's a Kwak Z tail unit.
Yeah I'm still using tractor fastners but I reckon with the amount of weight thats been dumped off the bike compared to standard, it's not the end of the world:)

Might get some Ti stuff when it's finished if I keep it and am happy with it.

Just screwed it back together, fitted the rizoma mirrors and been out for a play. Oooh yeah it's fun:coold the only problem being that it starts to come alive handling wise at 70 ish:blast It's way more slingable than my mates R1 though which is both good and bad at the same time. I forsee a test of restraint ahead:P
Gonna mod the subframe to lift the seat a bit the it's ready for paint.

Excuse my last post! I just read through the thread and see it's from MRA. Very neat.

How did you get on wiring up the Vapor? I have speed, power, water temp & revs ok but unsure about getting the idiot lights. I have a multi connector that used to plug into the TL clocks and I guess I will have to tap into there and see what happens.

Thumbs up to 'Vehicle Wiring Products' as well. Loads of handy stuff there and cheap too.

I just kepth the original Honda female multiplug for the idiot lights and put a compatible male one on the little vapour loom, obviousley putting the vapour pins in the corresponding honda slots/ways. I've got a clymer for the blade with the wiring diagrams in so it's fairly straight forward to work out what should go where. How's you TL coming along?

TL is coming along fine. Just to finish wiring up the lights, mount the battery and find a home for all the various relays, rectifier and plugs that once hid in the TL tailpiece. Bit of a squeeze but it will work. As with any project like this you have to modify, then modify again. It's a steep learning curve as it's my first build but am enjoying seeing it come along. Hope to have it all bult and running in the next 2 months then get it painted.

TL Fighter update

Since I last posted just over a year ago things have moved along for my project. Bike MOT'd in May and done over 1500 miles since. It's a complete hoot to ride, handles way better than I thought and with the race gearing is like a big supermoto.
Now if only I could decide on a paint scheme before spring..........
