Interesting reading as we are doing the samr sort of thing. The ferries are booked up. We are having to use two via denmark and will be doing a mixture of wild/campsites/hyttes and taking a six piece spinning rod because I love fish. Probably won't go as far north but will go to the Lofoten islands. Were leaving on the 16th of June for two weeks and will be piled up with rice, porridge etc.

Did it last Summer, 3500 miles in 15 days camping the whole way.
£1500 all in, which means everthing, ferries,petrol,food etc...
so bank on £750 per week and you wont be far wrong

Went to NothKapp last year, was told about the prices. And yes if you eat out and stay in hotels its dear
I camped and used Lidl and the Co op all in all I found it the same or cheaper the England, the Norwegen goverment had put the tax down on food 
. I know the £ is worth less than a spud at the mo 
so cost will be up. Bugeted on £200 a day for 23 days. Apart from a new back tyre £330 inc fitting and DON'T get caught speeding 
Approx £360 for 7 km over the limit 
and still come back with £1500 . Did 6k miles in 21 days of riding. 
Also found a camp site in the middle of now where that sold New Castle Brown on Tap
Would be rude not too. . . .

that's a pretty good cost for a Nordkapp journey....now Pog and I will see if we can beat it....apparently he was quite the shoplifter in his youth....I did say shoplifter didn't I.....

Harwich to Esbjerg return £595 thru DFDS direct (£692 thru ferry booking companies), 2 bikes, 2 Adults, 1 two berth cabin in June.
However I managed to wangle Harwich to Esbjerg and Ijmuiden to Newcastle for £512 including all meals (and the MCN 10% discount ) £387 without the meals. Kerry at DFDS 0871 5229955 will sort you out - good lass

I`ll be looking for you with my speed gun behind every bush and tree,beaware of horse trailers parked at the side of the road, police is hidden inside with the speed gun.
I have done the NC trip many times,+ rest of the country more or less all over.
Dont know if you saw the open invite I put up some months ago,sofar only one man signed up.
Will follow more or less the same rout but including all the must see\ride roads in the western parts between Bergen and Trondheim.
Plan is to leave around the same time but not before the 13th of june
(wife and daughter goes on holyday).
Finland on a bike will be new for me,but have found out that the eastern or middle part is best if you want to see tha lakes,coming down south from Kirkenes in Norway.
Will probably cross from Finland to Sweden at Turku to Stockholm.
Round trip from Kristiansand-NC-Kirkenes-Turku-Oslo somewhere between 7000-8500km depening on how much you want to see.
Cost exluding ferries from UK:gas 4000nkr,food(not eating out)20-25£ a day maximum,I normaly spend about 10-15£.
Ferry from Bodø to Lofoten ,bike and rider 35£ ,takes about 4hr to cross,before you deside check the weather,it can be a very rough ride.
I always use this ferry (old sailor) what weather,but have seen 100 tourist puke for 4-5 hr,in the middle of the summer,not a nice sight.
Other crossing from Skutevik to Svolvær cheaper and shorter,but you will land in the middle of Lofoten, but a short nice drive from Svolvær to Å (AA)and return to Svolvær.

The new road from Lofoten to the mainland opened last year, no need for ferry,but I recommend the ferry from Lofoten to Vesterålen,its a very nice drive on good roads and much scenery.
Ferry from Turku to Stockholm best guess 100£ leaving 0815 in the morning
trip takes 11hr.

I recommend to get a new set of tyres on the bike before you leave UK.
The roads up north is heavy on the tyers due to the fact that they run studded(steel) tyers 6 months a year,and eat up the softer compound of the tarmac, leaving the small gravel stones in the open.
Gives you an unbeleavable grip in the corners
Tyre prices in Norway is way over the top compaird with UK.
If you drop Finland and do Kristiandsand to NC, including western part(fjord country) and the Lofoten recon 6 long days 1000km pr day(600miles)
or the more relaxed 8-9 days your sepediture will drop to around
650-700£ round trip from Kristiandsand.

....really useful. Basically from my perspective in Norway, I want to limit myself to around £10 a day on food because I'll be carrying much of what I need I hope
I suspect that we will be aiming for 300-350 mile days which is a tank of petrol for a GSA (somewhere around £35 for a fill up I think - what price is petrol in Norway right now ....)
There'll also be every couple of nights for a campsite which from recollection can be up to £20. Will also be carrying alcohol and after my experience in 2007 won't be paying Norwegian prices....
So all told I'm hoping the week in Norway will come in at around £400 (not including ferrys which we got a real deal on...). Lastly the only cost not factored in will be toll roads or small ferrys and the like. So when you do the planning and the like, Norway is a very affordable country to visit IMHO....onyack

That's the trip I'm planning... saving up money and trying to find the time ;-)
I did a ride up to Nordkapp in 1984 (BMW R100RT) and then again in 1990 (Harley FXRT)...
Even between those two trips the roads and country had really changed. Needless to say the 1984 trip was a lot wilder and less crowded. The thought of wall to wall speed traps and the huge cost certainly puts me off another go...
Anyway, it really is a 'must do trip' and I reckon you'll have a brilliant time ;-)

Gasolin in Norway varies everyday,chepest on fridays and in the weekend,but to give you a price 1£-1.2£ pr liter.
Cottage or "Hytte" prices varies cheaper in the northern part 400-500kr pr night can sleep 4 = 10£ a night, pr person ,but expencive if you are on you own,if the weather is truly awfull for days and you need to get inside a house try to get a deal,up north not to difficult.
Hotels can be had at about the same price,including breakfast as it is out of season early June check at tourist office or look for advertisment in the small cities.
Youth hostel is always an option.
Accsess to the North Cape visitor center is expencive last year about 25£ and you will also have to pay for the tunnel to get there cant remember the fare 6-8£ each way (assholes)
If you decide to go there is a lot to see,visit the cinema in the basement ,180 deg view flyby of the northern area,including NC.
Dont forget to get the North Cape stickers for your luggage cases in the store, buy a hundred an sell them back home to wannabees.
They will pay for the trip

If you use a gas burner for cooking get a can of gas at home,as I dont know if it will fit the treads on what we use over here (multifuel) the Primus brand or the the "blue" burners,cant remember the name is most common in Norway.
Beans in tomato sause and sasuage is cheap in any store,Rema,Rimi,Kiwi,or Coop,sasuage is named Pølser in norwegian, get a pack of Grillpølser they will last you for a long time "Grillpølser" is what you will call Barbecu sasuage.
Can also recommend bacon called Skogs bacon,what the Timbermen of old times used to eat,lot of calories.
A loaf of bread is 15-20kr in any store.
Kiwi stores are best on fruit and vegatables.(cheapest)

Have a nice trip,as you come early in summer you can expect lot of snow beside the roads in higher altitude and mountain passes.

Food was expensive but price of beer was extortionate!!! £8 a pint and £8 for a big mac with no meal!!!
We only had to pay one toll and that was at the very top of Norway near Nordkapp. There was a ferry just before Narvik too.
We stayed in hyttes for bout £100 per night but there were 4 of us so it worked out fairly reasonable.
Enjoy the trip, it goes by all too quickly. Take loads of photo's too!

(I know too much info)

So much for that idea. My route is planned, tunnel thru to sweden the nordkapp and down norway. I will be there late june to early july for 23 days.
It will be my first proper tour. A mix of camping 14 day and hotels at 4 cities for some sight seeing. I am trying to make up for the missed tour last year. This thread has been very helpful.
