Hi,

On Year 2001 (Y reg) R1150GS, with ABS (without servo). Can you guide me to get correct Hydralic fluid and thinking of bleeding ABS brakes i.e. replace new fluid... Can you please advise which point and how many pump on the handlebar for front brake as well as rear brakes.

I need to prepare for a long tour and I'm on a tight budget!!!

Cheers

Yes I do bled brakes (& clutch) on both cars and Bikes quite often but the last time I bled brakes/clutch is 10 years ago!!!!!!

So, now it is time for my hand to get dirty for servicing etc etc...

Use DOT4 or above. Bleed as you would a non-ABS brake system. You only need to prime/bleed the ABS section of the system if you have drained it down completely. To get any last bubbles out of the front system after bleeding, I find it helps if you tie back the brake lever over night :thumb2

If you're not using a vacuum bleeder, take care using the levers. IIRC pulling back too far can damage the piston's seals on the end of the bore that doesn't get regular use and accumulates corrosion and crud.
