Gonna start some gentle :augie off-roading soon so wondered if I need to fit a TT or Wunderlich hard part to stop problems with the forks if the wee beestie goes over.

Here's the TT part which costs a very reasonable £82 posted

Occasionally they come up on the For Sale board. I see them normally after they are sold..:blast

Has anyone been unfortunate enough to know whether it actually works or not? :nenau

Blah Blah

If you're off roading a GS then it'll be when it goes over, not if:D
As for whether the hardpart will save the wishbone, you'll never know unless you try some destructive testing without one. It's personal choice. Price up a wishbone + inconvience of failure (riding abroad?) against a low probablity of damage and see if an £82 insurance premuim is worth it:blagblah

They come up s/h more often than you might think as they're easy to take off a bike before sale. Took me 2 weeks to find one s/h for my 1200. Keep yer eyes peeled:eek:

The hardpart is, of course, just a fancy (and expensive) way of holding two pieces of rubber on the wishbone.

Superglue could well be your (cheap) friend :D

Wouldn't using Superglue deprive me of owning a precision part, hand-crafted and lovingly despatched by Bavarian virgins? :mmmm

Insurance is the right word. I've done some fairly heavyweight crashing on my 1150 GSA with no damage so far. Well, to the wishbone anyway :blast

The hard part isn't to save the wishbone.

It's to prevent the steering stops on the top yolk/frame getting broken off in a full lock fall or whack.

Just cable tie some rubber buffers or old inner tubes around the wishbone, cost less than a £1, and does a better job :D

The Wunderlich steering stops are better engineered than that piece of yellow tat, and cheaper IIRC.

Ive had some quite major off`s on my 2008 & now my 2010 GSA, all offroad, and havent needed a yellow expensive bit of tat.
Hope this helps.

No but Marks crud-catcher looks very cool on your GSA... I DO want one of them (promise it won't have your Horse motif on it though!).:D

what about some door stops

get some door stops, the round button ones, cut them down to size and stick them on with plumbers silicone, masking tape in place, till silicone dries,4-6 hrs, remove tape, roberts your relation.

That'll do a better job than the parts costing you £££'s :thumb

Cool! I'm beginning to see why people sell stuff like this on the Forum.

(That'll be a pint Japseroony owes me for a free bump:beerjug:)

Trouble is, I just don't think outside the (exhaust?) box...:blast

i wouldnt sell my bike on here, i take them back to the dealer and trade it in against a new one.
I would buy it off my self....:blast
