Gurus needed.
I have a .co.uk web address
I do not have any web site but use it for my e-mails which are then forwarded onto my ISP supplier ntl, The simple reasons being that I will keep the .co.uk address but may change the ISP supplier in the future. Hence I would not have to notify everyone about my new e-mail address as it would be the same
It also means I can identify who I am getting spam from. This is because if I buy something from say Tescos I use the email address [email protected]. Then if I receive spam I can tell who sent it.
I can block individual addresses of the people who send me nasty things BUT as they are all coming through on the one mail address I want to block that address from receiving mail. (The nasty people keep on sending from different sites.) The address to be blocked to make it clear does not belong to a firm but was used by my daughter. [email protected]
Any ideas how to block just [email protected] but leave all my other e-mail addresses working?
Thanks
Paul

Can you not just delete the Bernie@xxxxx email account? Presumably you have an email management system with your domain name?

Although you may not be aware of it, your ISP has set up delivery rules so that mail addressed to anyone at xxx.co.uk is forwarded to you. What you need to do is to get them to specify a separate mailbox for Bernie, with that mail not forwarded to you. That way it doesn't even get downloaded to you.

If you are using outlook express go to tools -> message rules -> mail

Then the tab is displayed
Select New
window 1 tick 'Where To Line Contains'
window 2 tick "delete it from server"
window 3 click blue text "contains people"
When next tab displayed - add the email address of recipient to block
Then OK
Optionally name rule in window 4, then OK

This will essentially delete the mail item from the mail server - that is no attempt will be made to read contents from server, ideal if a Tw£t is sending malicious email.

There should be equivalent in most email browsers.

I am a bear with very little brain
I set up the E-mail system three or more years ago and cannot recall how I did it
The nominet site is now no help as to what I did.
Thanks Tim for the advice it sounds the right path

Try this wildbeeste.
Im assuming your using outlook express but it will also work with outlook, it does with my .co.uk account.

lets take it that my account name is 1200, when I set up the email in outlook express under servers the
server tab would be
pop whatever
smtp whatever

account name = 1200
password = whatever

now lets assume ive created the address [email protected]
go back into the servers tab and put in
account name = tisco+1200
password = whatever

this tells the server to only download emails that are addressed to [email protected]
If you leave out the + it will just act as a "catchall" as previoulsy mentioned

test it with an account before changing all your others.

works for me.

Captain Dangerous is wonderful
It worked.
Thanks - I can sleep easier now

I may use the redcastle approach later as I have a .me.uk address that i have not used yet

Off for a pint now
Thanks again everyone
