Dear collective

Forgive the numptyness, but although I am reasonably 'puter literate, I should welcome advice re starting a blog on the off chance someone would want to follow "THE BIG TRIP".

I favour apple macs. I'm not averse to to odd expense to avoid advertising cr*p and would want it to be so easy I can add to it after a 400km off road ride in 45'c when last night's kebab is taking extreme revenge, I am 15% dehydrated, the locals are looking rather too enviously at my mac book air and I only have 5 minutes internet time left.

Ta muchly

Wordpress you can do it for free using bladerunner.wordpress.com or spend about 25quid buy your own dot com and host it. There is a guy here fast2host I believe, Steve fdrom Cambridge (I think). I use register365 but why not try Steve.
Wordpress is very easy to use and there are some nice youtube videos which will have you up and running in no time.
You can check out http://www.balooz.com for an example of a wordpress site, it is mine of course but all bog standard out of the box stuff with no coding etc to do.
Go for it and have a good trip

(just had a look at hosting, seems a bit more than I said but still reasonable)added info

If one were travelling with just an iPad is there an app that would let you blog offline (incorporating GPS tracks, maps, photos etc) and then when online, with minimal effort, post the contents to a forum such as this?

I obviously know little about these matters :(

Why not just write up ride report(s) on here? BHT will create a subsection if needed? Just as straight forward as blogging.. :thumb

I wouldn't have thought that would be taken offensively. It depends what you want out of it, if you want to shell out to keep it going, how much you're going to use it, what sort of content you're thinking of etc. But if it is just for one trip, and that's GS/bike related it was just a thought. Horses for courses and all that :thumb

Try Blogger.com Build your blog and post up from whatever device you wish.

Run by Google so it's easy to use. And it's free.
