I wasn't at all happy with the Zumo 550 so I sent it back as agreed with my supplier, Blokesstuff.com. I didn't receive the confirmation that it had been delivered to them nor did the refund show up. Tried ringing them, no answer, checked the website and it has a notice that it is for sale!
I did hope that the parcel hadn't been delivered and that it would find its way back following my explanation at the local post office, unfortunately they just wrote to me stating that it was delivered on 12 Nov 07!
Looks like I may be £380 out of pocket and being a true Yorkshireman that will be like a bad toothache!
Does anyone know what happened to Blokesstuff? They are in Meltham near Huddersfield does anyone live nearby?

Blokesstuff (Abilita Ltd)

There was an earlier notice on October 12th Posted in the London Gazette but this official notice was issued on Nov 9th

In the Leeds County Court No 1281 of 2007
ABILITA LIMITED
(Company Number 05008691)
Nature of Business: Internet Sale of GPS Merchandise.
Registered Office of Company: Wesley House, Huddersfield Road, Birstall, Batley, West Yorkshire WF17 9EJ.
Date of Appointment: 02 November 2007.
Joint Administrators’ Names and Address: Peter O'Hara and Simon Weir (IP Nos 6371 and 9099), both of O’Hara & Co, Wesley House, Huddersfield Road, Birstall, Batley, West Yorkshire WF17 9EJ.

This mentions the name and address of the appointed administrators to whom you should contact

Do not assume you will be out of pocket. If you can prove the item is your property and just returned to them then the administrators are not allowed to claim it as assets of the business.

Best contact the administrators with the information and demand its return.

Money is different.

Karl

Karl, thanks for that, I can prove it is mine so I will call them tomorrow.
Cookie, I paid by a Gold debit card but that was some time ago now.

I contacted the administrators this morning and it is a bag of worms! Seems they never took control of the Blokestuff premises as they were leased to the director personally. Clearly him or one of his agents signed for my Zumo. I now have an email address for this character who it appears has opened up something similar to Blokesstuff
I wrote to him giving him up to Jan 1 to either return my Zumo or £380, if that doesn't happen then I will post his name and details everywhere until I get an address for him then take him to court!
I don't know in view of the premises issue whether or not I can take action against the administrators, they say not but of course they would.

What trail do you have regarding the 'missing' Zumo ?.

Do you have signed POD details (name and more important, the date is now crucial) from Royal Mail or courier ?, get copies to support your calim of title.

The administrators will have seized the assets, regardless so write to them giving them proof of purchase with unit serial number and that you have prior claim and title to the device. if date of receipt was in the time they had acquired the company then they are responsible, I guess they will box anything satnavvy looking and sell off ... unless the suppliying gps distributor (not Garmin in this case) who supplied blokestuff .. has a made a claim of title for goods they supplied as they too should have serial numbers.

FWIW .. I am not surpirsed you got the b*ms rush from the administrators, so you'll need to make your case and claim for goods you have title to.

Steve,

I did send the Zumo to be signed for on delivery. Not receiving any notification of delivery worried me so we went to the post office with my bit of paper and they looked into it. Apparently here in France it goes to a central office responsible for such things and shortly afterwards I received a letter from them giving me a reference number and telling me they were on the case. I then received a letter from them telling me the package was delivered to the Blokesstuff address on Nov 12th. Now I will go back to them and ask for proof of this. I do have proof of purchase and the Zumo is registered to me with Garmin.
The administrators maintain that at no time were they responsible for the premises of Blokesstuff:nenau

All 'official' sources record that the appointed administrator's took control on Nov 2nd ,so if your parcel arrived on Nov 12th (??) then its in their tenure and when they had control of the business.

Did you have RMA number to verify the return before the impending demise ?.

FWIW
.. pursue the administrators as it was returned to the company at its registered address when they (not previous directors) had been appointed and had effective daily control of the business, give em proof of delivery and unit serial number and ask for its safe return to you and offer to pay return delivery. Ask them to check existing stock (assuming they've not sold on the stock or title was claimed by the garmin distributor who supplied the company) and other returned item stock. My guess you're not alone.

.. inform support@Garmin (give model/serial number )and ask to be notified if anyone attempts to re-register the device.

Steve, first of all thanks so much for your help, it really is making a difference!

I don't have a RMA. It was the second GPS I bought from them and I thought I had a pretty good relationship with the owner.
This aft I will ask the post office for proof of delivery and I will email Garmin right now.
Thanks again!

Bob
