This week we are cat sitting and the bloody great lump decided to walk over the laptop keyboard..
Now the laptop touch pad don't work, a mouse in a usb port does tho' perfectly..
Now when I go into control panel and mouse settings it says that >>
synaptics touch pad is working but if I unplug the mouse it says it aint :nenau
So clever me tried to install another mouse ,I have and it works but it still says only one working is the touch pad [but it ain't :blast]
as soon as I unplug the mouse everything becomes immobile :(

HELP !!! o mighty pc :help:mac:bow

Model is ACER aspire 5920

So just to clarify, the problem is how to get rid of the cat, yes?

Have "Help the aged" taken away all of your guns Keith? :blast

PS in control panel, delete/uninstall both mouse and trackpad, then reboot using keyboard controls ...it should find both again :thumb

Go to Device manager and update the drivers for the mouse to the ones for the trackpad from your installation cd :)

....sounds like a classic case of cat and mouse.
