Bloody hell, not another different bike!!!!!

Yup, sounds like warped discs (very common) but you'd maybe expect to feel it at lower speeds too?

I think I'd be replacing the disc bolts and washers when I replaced the discs. Speaking as someone who's been there/done that when it comes to warped discs it's worth doing as, fir me, the latter style bolts/washers helped sort the warping.

Re lifting the bike when the wheel is out that's what blocks of wood are for.

Oh, and buy a torque wrench, you (will) need it.

I agree, sounds like warped discs. Suggest you clean up calipers and pads or even replace pads while its all apart.

Bike looks very nice btw :beerjug:

What he said.
+ make sure that the face between the wheel and where it mates with the discs is completely clean and smooth. Any shit between the disc and wheel will affect torque loading figures. Is the left grip getting warm at all? If not you need to check the voltage at the grip to see if there is any lecky feed?

yes there is a minimum standard and im pleased to say I reach that standard (just)
Cmon people help me with the original reason I posted this, namely the front discs and the heated grips issue. I'm getting disillusioned now and may be forced to sell it:augie:augie:augie:comfort

So, in your original entry you said the bloke you got it from was sending you disks, and you still need help??? You must be a copper!:hide

I can undo bolts and replace a disc or 2, but I have no idea when it comes to electrics. Every time i touch anything electrical , all the smoke escapes from it rendering it useless.:rolleyes:

Nice looking bike. Pleased the reply eventually came to your question. :thumb
Tax disc position does look a bit odd.

Discs

You'll probably find their put on with lock tight so use a hot air gun to warm
the up the bolts before taking them off mine were also on the 1150.

Disc on it's way, with all the info you'l ever need, but if I'd known you were filth, I'd have charged you for it :blast

bit of an update. i managed to change the left hand heated grip today on my own without losing anything or breaking anything and it's now working nice and toasty hands like, which is a good thing!!!! After 1 hour and 45 minutes struggling with releasing the axle bolt i finally gave up and went and bought the special bit you used to get in the BMW toolkit but now dont!!!! going to remove the wheel tomorrow and have someone who has promised me they will remove the old discs and replace with the new ones.

drinking parrothead, still not got the WSM, so reckon postman must be on a lazy one again..

By the way if you want to check a disc is not warped someone tells me that you can stick it on a flat sheet of glass to check for warpage. true or not??

thanks one and all for the helpful comments, and Drinking parrothead dont worry Im not a "proper" copper so you're safe!!!!

Right , I'm outta here, got work to do (sorry I mean paid employment)

Gone.

Disc posted 2nd classThursday to the address you gave me, you should have it tomorrow at the latest I would think

yes thank you very much, I got the disc and it works quite well. thanks once again. I hope I dont need to keep asking questions on here now, maybe!!!!

HTH,

Mark

Works quite well??????

How the feck does a disc 'work quite well'? Stops you in time nine times out of ten? Only locks up the front every other time you brake?

:-)
