I need to get hold of a fork tool which holds an internally fluted 'nut' in place whilst I iunscrew the bottom seal bolt.

ANyone seen one or got one?
They are 65 quid for what looks like a manhole lifter with a nut welded on!

I know I can make one with a threaded bar and a few nuts on it, but I dont know the size of the head inside - looks like a 17mm head on a nut would do it?

I have heard of people jamming brush shanks down into the leg but i dont really want to fill my forks with chippings!

ANy thoughts?

Scan of problem child below...

its the fork damper holder that I need (or need to make!)

You're going to clean the leg out anyway (aren't you?) so a brush steel isn't such a bad idea. What will help you the most though is a windy gun, or even a hammer drill to get it moving. When (if :D) you get the damper rod out of one of the legs, you can then make up something for the other/ future. For the TY's I've used a length of bright bar with a slot cut in one end to fit over the flats on the damper rod, and a square on the other for a spanner.
Good luck!
