For those who aren't familiar with Calum's Road,

"The villages near Kuntaur in the Gambia are cut off from civilization for 6 months of the year because the dirt track they call a road is flooded. The Gambian Government don't have the funds to supply a road in the area, so the locals have been inspired by Calum MacLeod and are now building their own road, supported by The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust. The materials required to build their road, are expected to cost in the region of £140,000... When completed, it will be called Calum's Road, in memory of the Scotish Crofter, who built his own Road, when his local council refused to build one for his people"

A group of Tossers are trying to raise £2000 each to supply materials for this worthwhile cause and some are planning to visit the new road in January.

I have arranged a blues night with a group called The Pontiax in Carrickfergus on 26th September, tickets a tenner. Some decent raffle prizes have also been promised, so any takers at a tenner a ticket? Apparently two tickets is enough to provide one metre of Road.......

If interested, stick the money in my justgiving account (link below signature) and pm me with where to send tickets

Come on tattie munchers at least show the chap a bit of support:clap

Even if a mod could make it a sticky till the events over. edit that wis quick

HI Stevey I'll see what I can do

Things have been hectic round here I'd not want to promise and not show up!

Perhaps we could invite the curry night chaps to pop round that night instead :aidan:aidan:aidan

Edit I'll be marshalling at the Snakebite rally at Benone

Quite a few folks will be there, If you had it on another night I'd make an effort to go to support ya

Aye whatever, Johnny I was trying to show Stevey what he's up against not tryin to drum up support for other stuff?

It's already VERY well supported and probably means that most of the Bike minded folks in the Carrcikfergus will be up there leaving stevey with less of a select audience

Class Jaythro:rolleyes:

Stick a big feckin advert for another event up:blast

i think Jay was just trying to prove he wasn't attending for a good reason... most on here from NI know about the Snakebite rally anyway and have made their plans one way or another to go to it or not so i don't think it will alter things too much
Snakebite will be where i'm at too i'm afraid... but i do go to it every year

Edit: i see jay has replied anyway

Folks, thanks for the bump and then making it a stickie!

I was tied to the date the band offered me... but I will keep plugging away with the tickets.

Jay, I just mentioned the curry club boys to Big G half an hour ago..... good call!

H.R.H, I bet if the venue had have been in Oonyackistan, we would have had to limit the numbers...... they'd have been flocking up for the great weather I always bring with me:aidan

Ticket for me and Tash please

Sorry we won't make it but will stick it in yir acoont

can ye say a coont:D

Stevie If you can get some of your leaflets printed off I scoot round all the local shops and the pubs and get them posted up for ye

Since I'm away I'll give ye a hand to try and drum up some support

What ya reckon?

Anyone else any ideas on how to some butts in the seats and make this a memorable fund raising event instead of making things difficult for Stevey?

Thanks Jay... I have a few posters printed, and would appreciate it if you were prepared to throw them about :clap
