Yes I know I'm not up to date on this type of clobber but can you help me out with what to you lot is probably obvious.

I have a Sony Ericsson W810i, I can get the Sony walkman HBH-DS970 bluetooth headset to go with it (the phone has mp3 inbuilt).

I can then get a bluetooth GPS (my quest doesn't have Bluetooth so I'll have to go for Zumo or whatever).

So, listen to music, GPS prompts cut in, phone rings, I can hear it ok - but how do I speak back???

Do I really have to go the Autocom route just for a microphone or have I missed something?

The sony headset has a mic built in. In theory the Zumo controls the phone but the headset & mic would still need to be paired with the phone.

It makes sense because Sony says the headset can be paired with two devices. I figure the Zumo tells the phone to shut-up etc but doesn't pass the feed along.

However if you don't have a bluetooth headset I presume the Zumo operates as a Hands Free controller and passes audio/mic from the sockets on the Zumo.

The only spanner in the works is Zumo doesn't support stereo sound over bluetooth...

I can only tell you about my set up which works perfectly (mostly!). I have a Zumo 550, a Scala Rider headset for the helmet plus my Nokia phone. I paired the Zumo with the Nokia and Scala and hey presto - when all three are fired up , calls get automatically routed via the Zumo display and to the headset.

Zumo has memory card on to which you can whack as many MP3s as the SD card can take - also acts as a mass storage device so when you connect the Zumo to your PC the Zumo is seen as an external drive.

The only downsides are no stereo via Bluetooth - but frankly anything that breaks up the monotony of a motorway journey gets my vote. Also occasionally the Zumo drops the Scala for no apparent reason which can be irritating on a long journey. Doesn't happen a lot though. The other handy Zumo feature is that it works just as well in the car with any regular Bluetooth headset and you can take your calls in the same way.:)

Prior to selling mine Snoopy I used to listen to MP3's off the Zumo via a Scala FM rider and they sure sounded stereophonic.:nenau

I have the bog standard scala rider & its not stereo it only has one ear piece, only the Scala FM Radio (& teamset IIRC) come with two ear pieces!

my bluetooth used to connect ok, until i recent swapped phones, now i have a Samsung D900i & suffering bluetooth connection problems...the phone keeps connecting & disconnecting constantly...still got to fiddle around with the phone settings to see if i can fix it... :(
